Sunday 9 June

  • Moderator | Let us pray and give thanks for the restoration of devolved government in Northern Ireland, praying for our MLAs, and for the coalition government in the Republic of Ireland, the Taoiseach Simon Harris and the TDs. Pray for a confidence in witnessing in PCI, for the crossing of boundaries and for the ‘Being Prepared’ Evangelism Conference in Assembly Buildings on Friday 14 June.
  • Worship in the family of God | ‘Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.’ Hebrews 13:1. Give thanks for your congregational family and ask that God would bless your time together in worship today.

Monday 10 June

  • St Petersburg Christian University, Russia | Give thanks to God for the May graduation of students and pray for their individual ministries throughout Russia. Pray for a restful and rejuvenating summer break for the academic and administrative staff, as well as the students.
  • Romania | Pray for the life and witness of the Hungarian Reformed Church Districts in Romania and especially as they share in the organisation and hosting of the 9th General Assembly of the Communion of Protestant Churches in Europe taking place in Sibiu, Romania, in August.

Tuesday 11 June

  • Roberta Irvine, deaconess, Elmwood Lisburn | Pray for Roberta as she serves the congregation and local community, that those she shares the love of Christ with would grow and develop in their walk of faith.
  • Howth & Malahide | Pray for the Church weekend away (14-16 June) to Avoca Manor. Pray for deepening inter-generational fellowship and spiritual maturity. Pray also for ‘Going Bananas’ (holiday Bible club) from 22-26 July in Malahide, that God’s Word will take root and bear good fruit in many lives.

Wednesday 12 June

  • Diane Cusick, global mission worker, Zambia | Give thanks for Diane’s safe return to Zambia and pray for a smooth transition into working on the ground again. Continue to pray for her health that God would strengthen and protect her.
  • Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), Malawi | Pray for the people of Malawi as they struggle with economic inflation and extreme rises in the cost of living. Pray for the church as it seeks to respond to the growing needs.

Thursday 13 June

  • Kells, Co Meath | Pray for Kells congregation as they strive to reach out and spread God’s Word to those in the community who may have little contact with a church. Give thanks to the Lord for the support and encouragement he has already provided through friends of the Church.
  • Robert Dalzell, project leader, South Belfast Friendship House (SBFH) | Give thanks for Robert and the work he does at Friendship House. Pray for strength and courage as he leads and shares the gospel with those who come through SBFH’s doors.

Friday 14 June

  • Illness and bereavement | Pray for those in our families and friendship circles who have suffered sudden illness recently. Give thanks for the NHS and healthcare professionals, including paramedics and rapid response teams, who are often heroes in emergency situations. Pray also for those known to us who are bereaved and coping with grief. As they mourn a loved one, pray that they will know God’s presence and comfort.
  • Debt | Give thanks for organisations like Christians Against Poverty and others who support people overwhelmed by debt and financial challenges. Pray that those who are in difficulty will find ways to access the support they need.

Saturday 15 June

  • General Council | In advance of the General Assembly meetings beginning on Thursday 20 June, please remember in prayer the Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Sam Mawhinney and the Moderator-Designate, Rev Dr Richard Murray as they prepare in heart and mind. Please also remember the Assembly Buildings staff who, in the coming days, will be working hard making practical preparations to enable General Assembly to run smoothly.
  • Training in Ministry | Give thanks that our two student deaconesses, Heather Healy and Cathy Smith, have satisfactorily completed their training and have been approved for deployment. Pray that God will guide and use Heather and Cathy in the days ahead.
