Sunday 9 July

  • Moderator | Pray that many would find Jesus who is the truth and discover his Word which is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in what is right.
  • Resting in God in worship | ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.’ Matthew 11:28. Give thanks for Christ’s invitation to find rest in him and ask for his peace to settle on your heart as you worship today.

Monday 10 July

  • St Petersburg Christian University, Russia | Thank God for the students who have completed their studies and are working for Christ and his kingdom in different and sometimes remote places. Praise him for the work of this university and its influence over the past 33 years in protestant churches.
  • The Christian Church of Sumba (GKS), Indonesia | Pray for the leadership of GKS, especially for Rev Marlin Lomi, General Chairperson, and Rev Jacob Malo Bili, General Secretary. Remember also the life and witness of the 253 congregations of GKS spread throughout the island of Sumba.

Tuesday 11 July

  • Rosemary Spiers, deaconess, Greenwell Street, Newtownards | Give praise to God for many encouragements in Greenwell Street. Pray for the holiday Bible club (week commencing 24 July), that boys and girls from the community will hear God’s Word and hope in Christ.
  • West Belfast | Please pray for the exhibition that is running during a local festival (9-12 August), which will look back to the past, but also forward to the future. Pray that many will come and be interested to engage in Bible study after the exhibition is over.

Wednesday 12 July

  • Diane Cusick (global mission worker, Zambia) | Give thanks that Diane has received medical clearance to return to serve in Zambia and pray for her as a timeline for her return is drawn up and other preparations taken forward.
  • Grupos Biblicos Unidos (GBU), Spain | Pray for the GBU summer camps running this month, that God would bless planning & preparations, & that the camps would be an enriching time of fellowship and teaching for the students.

Thursday 13 July

  • Leslie and Mabel Brush, community outreach workers, Tartaraghan | Praise God for a man who attended ‘Hope Explored’ who later became a Christian and has been telling others. Pray for Leslie and Mabel as they concentrate on visitation of those on the fringes of church life and those living near Tartaraghan while organisations are off.
  • Westbourne | Pray for the congregation, that they would go deeper in the knowledge and truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that they would be drawn to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in their surrounding community.

Friday 14 July

  • Social Witness | As we enjoy the summer holidays, pray for families with children at home who are struggling due to the cost of living crisis. Remember those who will miss the help that free school meals provide during term-time and give thanks for those organisations which help and support families on a low-income.
  • Fostering & adoption | Give thanks for those who open their homes to children and young people who can no longer be cared for by their own families. Pray that more people would come forward to offer help and support in this way, and particularly for refugee children who arrive in Northern Ireland and Ireland unaccompanied.

Saturday 15 July

  • General Council | Pray for families throughout our church who will be taking summer holidays or shorter breaks over these weeks. Remember especially ministers and others who work for both our congregations and the church centrally, that they might know refreshment in these days.
  • Training in Ministry | Pastoral Care of Ministers and their Families. Pray for ministers as they take leave and benefit from the quieter church life of the summer. Pray for refreshment and renewed energy and vision from the Lord as they also prepare for the new church year.
