Sunday 8 January
- Moderator | Pray for the Moderator as he conducts worship in Mersey street congregation in the East Belfast Presbytery. Pray that the service will be an encouragement to the congregation as they continue in their mission
and ministry in the area. - Worship: Searched and known | ‘You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.’ Psalm 139:1. As we worship today invite God to search the hearts of his people and to address their deepest needs.
Monday 9 January
- Naomi Keefe (global mission worker, Brazil) | Give thanks for a busy month of events throughout December and pray for Naomi as she engages in training sessions planned for the school holidays in January.
- Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) | Pray that God would guide and encourage the office bearers of CCAP Livingstonia Synod, including Rev Reuben Msowoya, Moderator, and Rev William Tembo, General Secretary.
Tuesday 10 January
- Sonya Anderson (deaconess in Shore Street, Donaghadee) | Give thanks for the community events held in December and the opportunities to connect with people and share the hope of Jesus. Pray that God will use the literature given, memories made, hampers donated, and conversations that happened to draw people to himself.
- Greystones | Give thanks that renovations and a small extension, which have been years in the planning, are now underway. Pray that the work continues smoothly. Give thanks for a local school which allows the congregation to meet in their hall Sunday by Sunday.
Wednesday 11 January
- Gary and Mary Reid (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for the Spirit’s empowering of the Evangelists, Worship Leaders, Gary Reid and all who are teaching and preaching for the upbuilding of the church.
- Refugees/aid agencies | Pray for the Church to have a better understanding of the vast numbers of people around the world forced to flee their homes every year, and for the provision of the wide-ranging support needed.
Thursday 12 January
- Ben Cavan (community outreach worker, Ballycrochan) | Pray that Ben and the church will preach the gospel with boldness, both amongst professing Christians and non-Christians alike. Pray for a growing desire to glorify God and for all to see the fullness of his glory, leading to revival.
- Rev Kenny Hanna, Rural Chaplain | Give thanks for the opportunity Kenny had to be invited to various speaking engagements around Christmastime. Praise God for opening doors for the gospel and pray that he will continue to do so in 2023, for his glory.
Friday 13 January
- Social Witness | The New Year is not a happy time for everyone, especially those who have problems with their mental health. Give thanks for volunteers as they staff helplines at this demanding time of the year, & for resources and television campaigns, which promote the importance of seeking help and of talking through the issues.
- Public Affairs | Karen Jardine is PCI’s Public Affairs Officer, assisting the Council for Public Affairs in developing the church’s thinking on issues of public policy, as well as coordinating groups that sit under the Council. Pray that God would give Karen wisdom, guidance and peace as she deals with complex issues in the Public Square.
Saturday 14 January
- General Council | Pray for those involved in meetings of the General Council committees, panels and task groups, that they might be encouraged as they serve Christ in this way.
- Council for Training in Ministry (CTM) | Applicants for ordained ministry have an overnight on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 January as part of the interview process. Pray that the Lord would clearly guide applicants and interview panel members, as together they explore the Lord’s will for those who have applied.
