Sunday 7 May

  • Moderator | Our ultimate vision must always be the Glory of Christ. May we join with Moses and plead “show us your glory”. May this unite us, direct us and liberate us.
  • Answering God’s invitation to worship | Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song’. Psalm 95:2. Thank God for those who lead us in musical accompaniment in worship today. Ask him to help us to respond to his invitation to praise him in music and song.

Monday 8 May

  • Naomi Leremore (global mission worker, Kenya) | Give thanks that Naomi had a safe journey back to Kenya following deputation, and pray for good rains and a bountiful harvest in Kenya in the coming months.
  • The Christian Presbyterian Church of Portugal (ICPP) | Pray for Rev Manuel Luzia, President, along with the executive leadership of the ICPP, as they seek to discern and pursue God’s purposes for the church.

Tuesday 9 May

  • Rev Graeme Orr, chaplain at Ulster University, Magee | Praise God for many students being reached with the gospel during the weekly coffee and chat outreach. Pray that others might be saved! Praise God for a growing Christian Union. Pray for the new Committee and for future missional opportunities to open up on campus.
  • Fahan | Pray for the congregation of Fahan in this time of vacancy; that they would know the Lord’s leading and guiding as they seek his voice. Give thanks for their witness to the surrounding community; pray that they would be a blessing to those they engage with.

Wednesday 10 May

  • Derek and Jane French (global mission workers, Spain) | Give thanks for Derek’s time on deputation in April and pray for God’s provision of two interns from September onwards to work with students and in the
  • The Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA), Kenya | Pray for Rev John Gatu, Director, and his staff team as they take forward the work of the PCEA’s Theological Education by Extension Programme.

Thursday 11 May

  • Church Planting | Give thanks for those involved in leadership in the three most recent PCI church plants; Central, Belfast, Balbriggan and Grace and Hope, Belfast. Pray for all those who are part of the church plants, that they would be drawn deeper into fellowship with and service of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Fermoy and Cahir | Pray for the ‘Kids Bible Club Week’ taking place in Fermoy in July; for preparation of the outreach material, permission to use the town park and the enlisting of all the key leaders and helpers. Give thanks for the encouragements seen in Cahir. Pray for the development of their mission statement.

Friday 12 May

  • Taking Care | Taking Care oversees the child and adult safeguarding of our church, providing advice and support, training & the processing of vetting. Pray for designated persons & ministers who will deal with child protection issues in the coming months, for guidance & wisdom as they work with families, leaders & other organisations.
  • Council elections | Elections to local councils in Northern Ireland take place on Thursday 18 May. Give thanks for those who are prepared to serve their local communities in this way, and pray for their continued safety and protection in the last few days of campaigning. Pray that those elected would pursue a peaceful and just society in the decisions that they make.

Saturday 13 May

  • General Council | Pray for the ongoing process to identify a new Financial Secretary for the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, to take over from Clive Knox following his forthcoming retirement. Pray especially that a range of individuals might be prompted to apply and that the selection panel might have wisdom and discernment.
  • Training in Ministry | The annual conference for ministers who are five years post-ordination takes place next Tuesday-Thursday, in Assembly Buildings. Pray for the ministers who will gather – for encouragement, fellowship, and for the equipping & enabling of God, that they would be ever-more effective in what the Lord has called them to do.
