Sunday 7 January

  • Moderator | Pray for the Moderator, and Rev Trevor Kane, minister of Glenwherry, as he leads a service of thanksgiving and celebration on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the congregation. Pray that the service might be a blessing to all who attend and that the witness of that congregation in the area will continue to flourish.
  • Worship: Searched and known | “You have searched me, LORD, and you know me.” Psalm 139:1. As we worship today invite God to search the hearts of his people and to address their deepest needs.

Monday 8 January

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy, global mission workers, Romania | Pray that Steve and Rosie, along with the Council for Global Mission, would be guided and encouraged as together they consider the future and seek God’s direction. For a sense of peace and assurance of God in a time of uncertainty; that they will rest secure in the knowledge of God’s sovereignty and love. 
  • The United Bible Training Centre (UBTC), Pakistan | Pray for the Centre’s Principal, Mrs Salma Andrew, together with the staff and students at UBTC, that they would know the presence and power of God at work mightily amongst them, discipling many young women to serve in the name of Christ throughout Pakistan.

Tuesday 9 January

  • Tom Dowling, Irish mission worker, Kilkenny | Please pray for those attending Christianity Explored in the home of a church member in the town of Castlecomer, about 20km from Kilkenny, and also those contacted in door-to-door visitation in Kilkenny, that they will come to faith in Jesus.
  • Fahan | Give thanks for the call accepted by Rev Marty McNeely to come and minister in the congregation and in outreach within the wider area. Pray for his family as they make arrangements and for Marty as he prepares for this new ministry challenge.

Wednesday 10 January

  • Stephen and Angelina Cowan, global mission workers, Kenya | Give thanks for the Nairobi teams who lead the December camps and pray the camps will encourage the young people who attended to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus.
  • The Reformed Church District in Transylvania, Romania | Pray for Bishop Béla Kató, the pastors and all in leadership roles in the Transylvanian Reformed Church District, that they might discern and keep in step with God’s unfolding Kingdom purposes in the year ahead.

Thursday 11 January

  • Hospital chaplains | Pray for all part-time hospital chaplains. Give thanks for the support they bring to patients, their family and staff.
  • Fermoy and Cahir | Pray for the congregations as they meet for worship each week and seek to share the love and good news of Jesus with those they encounter.

Friday 12 January

  • CSW Business and Finance Panel | As we enter a new year, pray for this panel of the Council for Social Witness, as it considers how best to use the resources available. Pray that they may be blessed with wisdom in their decisions, with courage to face the challenges ahead and with compassion for the many people who depend on this ministry.
  • Education | Pray that PCI’s response to the Northern Ireland Home Affairs Committee Call for Evidence on Integrated Education which closes on 18 January, will be taken into consideration when making future decisions on schools in Northern Ireland.

Saturday 13 January

  • General Council | Pray for the work of the Personnel Department in Assembly Buildings, led by Sarah Leung. Remember the staff as they seek to assist with the recruitment and appointment of staff – particularly in the Social Witness homes. 
  • Training in Ministry | The Assignments Panel assigns ministry students to congregations for placements and assistantships – a vital aspect of students’ preparation for ministry, providing valuable opportunities to learn alongside a supervising minister. Pray for the Panel as it meets on Thursday 18 January, that the Lord would guide its decisions.
