Sunday 7 April

  • Moderator | “I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:6-7. Pray for your minister, elders and members as we all begin another term of ministry.
  • Worship: After Easter | Ask that as we worship in the afterglow of Easter we would be inspired and equipped to walk in the light, life and liberty of the gospel.

Monday 8 April

  • Volker and Jinhyeog Glissmann, global mission workers, Malawi | Give thanks to God for the team that have been brought together, including Volker, to write a new course. Pray that technical challenges would be overcome as they meet online from different locations. Continue to pray for the health and safety of the Glissmann family.
  • The Baltic Reformed Theological Seminary (BRTS), Latvia | Pray for the work of BRTS, especially Rev Alvis Sauka, President, and Artis Celmins, Director, as they develop the work of the Seminary, not least its extension project in Jekabpils in central Latvia.

Tuesday 9 April

  • Cork and Aghada | Pray for Trinity Cork as they seek to appoint an outreach worker to help with the work in Cork City. Pray for Aghada as they seek to implement some of the ideas for their future that they gained during their presbytery consultation.
  • Toni Bassett, community outreach worker, West Belfast Special Project | Pray for connections and relationship building with people from all nations residing in the area. Give thanks for the interest shown at the recent Council for Mission in Ireland (CMI) evening in Ahoghill and pray that people would continue to remember the work in West Belfast.

Wednesday 10 April

  • Edwin and Anne Kibathi, global mission workers, England | Pray for Edwin and Anne, that God will grant them strength and wisdom as they continue leading and seek to encourage the congregations. Give thanks for the catechism classes taking place and pray that they would make an impact on the lives of those who attend. 
  • Presbyterian Church in Brazil (IPB) | Pray for the leadership of IPB as they look at how, with due care and consideration, they support members and families of their congregations in relation to Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Thursday 11 April

  • Corboy and Mullingar | Pray for elders and members of both congregations in the midlands of Ireland during this time of vacancy, that they would continue to grow in faith and fellowship with one another.
  • Louise Davidson, deaconess without charge | Give thanks for the opportunity to serve in Friendship House. Pray as Louise settles in, that she will bring support to the team. Pray that all who come through the doors and within the community would experience the love, peace and joy of Jesus in a real, loving and compassionate way.

Friday 12 April

  • Taking Care | Pray for the temporary Taking Care administrator for the Council for Social Witness, as they deal with all Taking Care enquiries and liaise with congregational designated persons to discuss training and Access NI checks, amongst other queries. Pray also for all of our Church’s youth groups and organisations, for the safety and well-being of the children and young people attending.
  • Sport | Give thanks for the many Christian people who are involved in sport at all levels as athletes, team members, coaches, referees, support staff, or facilitating children’s and youth teams. Pray that those involved would have opportunities to share the gospel in both word and deed.

Saturday 13 April

  • General Council | Pray for the General Council as it meets in the incoming week. Pray especially for the convener of the Support Services Committee, Mr David Thomson, and the convener of the United Appeal Committee, Mr Martin Hampton, as they bring significant financial reports to the Council for transmission to the June meeting of the General Assembly.
  • Training in Ministry | Pray for the two trainee deaconesses, Heather Healy and Cathy Smith, as they continue their final year of study and placement. Pray for both women as they have a preaching day today, and look forward, God willing, to the completion of their training.
