Sunday 5 June

  • Moderator | Give thanks for Dr David Bruce’s two years of being Moderator and for all that he has accomplished during his term of office in the unprecedented circumstances of the pandemic.
  • Worship in the family of God | …there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. Revelation 7:9. Give thanks for the worship rising to God today from churches all across the world in all sorts of settings and circumstances and ask that your congregation’s part in that would be pleasing to him.

Monday 6 June

  • Diane Cusick (global mission worker, Zambia) | Pray for Diane who is seriously ill and currently in hospital in Belfast, that she may know the Lord’s presence and strength, and would soon make a full recovery.
  • Middle East | Pray for wisdom and guidance for the leadership of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL). Pray for projects helping refugees and those struggling with the soaring cost of living. 90% of the Syrian population now live below the poverty line.

Tuesday 7 June

  • Cheryl Meban (chaplain, Ulster University, Belfast and Jordanstown) | Give thanks for Cheryl’s work with students and staff over the past year and the many conversations pointing people to Christ. Pray for students who are graduating this summer and that they will seek God’s guidance as they move to other areas of life.
  • Ballyhobridge, Clones, Newbliss & Stonebridge (Monaghan Presbytery) | Give thanks for six baptisms in the past year, increasing numbers in the Sunday Schools & for the teachers. Give thanks for two young people admitted to full communicant membership & for attentive listening to the exposition of the Word each Sunday.

Wednesday 8 June

  • Naomi Keefe (global mission worker, Recife, Brazil) | Excessive rains have caused severe flooding in the Recife area of Brazil. 85 people have been killed and many more are missing. More than 2,000 people are in temporary accommodation as they have lost everything. More rains are expected. Pray for all affected.
  • Pakistan | Pray for God’s blessing on the Principal, Mrs Salma Andrew, and the staff and students at the United Bible Training Centre, Gujranwala, Pakistan.

Thursday 9 June

  • John McCandless (community outreach worker, Mountpottinger & McQuiston Memorial, Belfast) | Give thanks for the Easter outreach to two primary schools and MASK (Mountpottinger’s After School Klub), and for committed leaders. Pray for the Internet Café, the summer outreach in schools and the holiday Bible club in July.
  • Ballymagrane (Co Tyrone) | Pray that many children from the local community will come along to the ‘Marvellous Miracles’ Bible Club being held from 20 to 24 June. Pray also for the Children’s Day service.

Friday 10 June

  • Social Witness | Pray for David Hooks, Finance Manager of the Council for Social Witness, who works tirelessly on the financial records for the various services overseen by the Council. Pray for David as he discusses the accounts with Service Managers & plans budgets ahead considering all requirements for each home or unit. Pray for the Managers implementing the budgets & that together all may work to improve the financial position of the Council.
  • Local Government | Give thanks for those who serve their communities on local councils across the island of Pray for those who have taken up the post of Mayor or Council Chair, that they would be good leaders and make a positive impact as they undertake their specific responsibilities.

Saturday 11 June

  • General Council | Take time to pray for ministers and elders and others who will be attending the 2022 General Assembly, which begins in a weeks’ time. Remember the members of the General Assembly, many of whom will be gathering during the incoming week at Presbytery organised preparatory events.
  • Training in Ministry | Graduation at Union College took place on Friday 10 June. Give thanks for the Lord’s blessing upon students and staff during the past academic year, and pray for third year ministry students as they leave college and begin their full-time congregational training.
