Sunday 31 October

  • Moderator | Pray for the Moderator as he embarks on his Presbytery tour of North Belfast. Give thanks that he is able to do this and that, as restrictions relax, he has the opportunity to engage with the community of the area and encourage congregations and organisations within the Presbytery.
  • Spurred to action in worship | Ask God to help us respond to his Word, so that we not only hear his voice, but take steps to do what he says to follow him, serve others and walk in the wisdom of his ways.

Monday 1 November

  • James & Heather Cochrane (global mission workers in Portugal) | Pray for James & Heather as they come towards the end of the home assignment and prepare to return to Portugal. Give thanks for the encouragements they received from speaking to PCI congregations, groups and individuals over the past couple of months.
  • Hungarian Reformed Church | Pray for God’s blessing on congregations in Hungary, Romania and Ukraine as they continue to minister and reach out to others. Pray too for wisdom and guidance for church leaders.

Tuesday 2 November

  • Rev John Coulter (chaplain, Ulster University, Coleraine) | Pray for wisdom for John as he continues to support students and staff pastorally and for opportunities to share the gospel / encourage people in their faith.
  • Mountmellick & Tullamore (Co Laois and Co Offaly) | Mountmellick congregation is closing this year, pray for the remaining members of the church that they might find a spiritual home in Tullamore or other nearby churches. Give thanks for new families that have become part of Tullamore during lockdown.

Wednesday 3 November

  • Volker & Jinhyeog Glissmann (global mission workers in Southern Africa) | Praise God that the book “TEE for the 21st century” has now been published and pray that it may contribute to God’s glory.
  • South Sudan | The worst flooding in decades in South Sudan has impacted over 700,000 people and rains are expected to continue until the end of the year. Pray for all those affected, and that those needing humanitarian assistance will receive the help they need both now and, in the months, ahead.

Thursday 4 November

  • Rachel Cubitt (deaconess in Whiteabbey) | Give thanks for Kids & Co (mums & tots) starting back for the first time since the pandemic began – pray for the leaders & families. Give thanks for Cathy (trainee deaconess); pray for her as she balances study at Union Theological College with serving in Whiteabbey.
  • Naas | Thank the Lord for how he has been blessing the church family with growth, both numerical and spiritual. Pray that each member will strive with all the strength that God provides to live for him each day.

Friday 5 November

  • Social Witness | As energy prices continue to rise, pray that those on low incomes who are trapped in debt & food & fuel poverty may find the support they need. Pray that we will continue to respond generously to food banks & charity appeals. Give thanks for Christian organisations such as CAP & Trussell Trust supporting those struggling.
  • Afghan Refugees | Pray for those arriving in the UK and Ireland fleeing from Afghanistan. Pray that local churches would see opportunities to play their part in creating a welcoming and supportive environment, alongside the relevant government and statutory agencies.

Saturday 6 November

  • General Council | Pray for the meeting of the General Council scheduled to take place next week and for its convener, Very Rev Dr Noble McNeely. Pray for wisdom and insight for council members as they consider the outworking of decisions made at General Assembly and build upon the work of the various committees, task groups and panels reporting to the Council.
  • Training in Ministry | The Conciliation Panel, which provides help with disagreements and disputes, is holding training next Saturday for its conciliators. This is a vital role in helping us as a Church to live out our calling to love one another. Pray for the conciliators, that the Lord would equip them and use them to serve his Church.
