Sunday 31 July

  • Moderator | Pray for ministers, & other staff who work in our congregations, as they have holidays over the summer period. Pray for refreshment & renewal in body, mind & spirit for them & for all other leaders in our congregations.
  • Resting in God in worship | The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. Psalm 23:1-3. Thank God for how he leads us into rest that renews our souls and ask that you may find refreshment for daily living as you worship today.

Monday 1 August

  • Gary & Mary Reid (global mission workers, Kenya) | Gary and Mary are currently on home assignment. Pray for them over the next seven weeks as they speak in a number of PCI congregations, sharing about the work God is doing amongst the Maasai community in the Olkinyei area of southern Kenya.
  • Myanmar | Rev Uel Marrs, PCI Global Mission Secretary, is attending the Presbyterian Church of Myanmar’s Partners’ Meeting in Singapore this week. Pray that the meeting will be an encouragement to the Church in Myanmar as they continue their ministry during the violent unrest and military dictatorship in Myanmar.

Tuesday 2 August

  • Michelle Purdy (deaconess in Ballyclare) | Pray for Michelle who has been ill in recent months. Pray for healing and for daily energy and strength. Pray that she will know God’s presence and love at this difficult time.
  • Enniscorthy and Wexford | Pray for these two congregations which are vacant at present. Pray for the appointment of a minister of God’s choosing, & for the congregations to be encouraged in their work & witness.

Wednesday 3 August

  • St Petersburg Christian University | Pray for staff and students at the university as they prepare for the start of the new academic year. Pray too for unity amongst Christians across Russia at this time.
  • Malawi | Pray for God’s blessing on the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in Malawi – one of the world’s poorest countries economically. Give thanks and pray for the church’s projects helping people who are living in poverty and for the vital healthcare provided by CCAP’s hospitals and clinics.

Thursday 4 August

  • Altnagelvin Hospital chaplains | Pray for Rev Lindsay Blair, Rev Keith Hibbert and Rev Ross Kernohan who share the chaplaincy role at Altnagelvin hospital in Londonderry. Pray that God will give them the words to say to patients, families and staff to encourage them to trust in the Lord through difficult times.
  • Fahan | Pray for the elders and members of the congregation during this time of vacancy. Give thanks for their dedication to outreach ministries, and pray that more people in their locality will come to faith in Jesus Christ.

Friday 5 August

  • Respite Care | Respite care is an essential element to the overall care of individuals and invaluable support to families and carers. Since the Covid-19 pandemic this service has been reduced & in some instances stopped. Pray for all who provide this valuable service. Pray that families and carers will benefit from their relaxation & breaks.
  • Loneliness | Pray for those of any age who feel isolated and lonely, especially during the summer months when normal activities are paused. Pray for opportunities to look out for neighbours and friends, and to share with them the love and hope of Jesus.

Saturday 6 August

  • General Council | Pray for staff in the Financial Secretary’s Department, who over these next weeks will be collating all of the financial and statistical data which is forwarded by congregations and presbyteries. Pray also for treasurers and others working on their congregation’s returns for the Charity Commission (NI) and the Charity Regulatory Authority (RoI).
  • Training in Ministry | The Union College building is historic and significant, however, any big, old building needs maintenance and management. Pray for Alan McCormick, the Head of Operations at Union; the Custodian, John Piper; and the Finance Personnel and Administration Panel, and its convener Norman Bennett, as they oversee the maintenance and management of the property.
