Sunday 30 October
- Moderator | Pray for the Moderator as he commences his second Presbytery Tour – of Route. Pray that the various engagements and interactions with churches, community groups and other agencies might be a source of encouragement.
- Worship: Respond to God | My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. Psalm 51:17. Give thanks that God accepts us as we come humbly before him and ask that experiencing his presence in worship today might better shape our hearts to live for him.
Monday 31 October
- Edwin and Anne Kibathi (global mission workers, England) | Give thanks for the recent ‘Kenya and Friends in the Park’ outreach and Women’s Guild seminars. Pray that these events will continue to advance God’s Kingdom.
- Church of Central Africa Presbyterian Malawi | Pray for the Church’s witness in the current context of chronic food insecurity, fuel shortages, power blackouts, and soaring prices.
Tuesday 1 November
- Louise Davidson (deaconess, West Church, Bangor) | Give thanks for opportunities to connect and share God’s love and faithfulness this past month. Pray that opportunities will continue to arise to build relationships with all the women who attended ‘Faith and Fitness.’ Pray for daily strength, stamina, wisdom and grace for Louise.
- Athy, Co Kildare and Carlow, Co Carlow | Pray for the congregations of Athy and Carlow, that they would be witnesses of the gospel of Christ and that this would be evident to those in the surrounding community.
Wednesday 2 November
- Ilona and Csaba Veres (global mission workers, Romania) | Give thanks for the Diakonia children’s ministry in Salaj and Cluj counties. Pray especially for the Friday good news clubs, that children would encounter Jesus.
- The Christian Church of Sumba, Indonesia (GKS) | Pray for Rev. Alfred Samani, General Chairman, and Rev. Marlin Lomi, General Secretary, in their leadership roles.
Thursday 3 November
- Student Chaplaincy | Give thanks for PCI’s University and College chaplains and for their ministry and mission to students throughout the island of Ireland. Pray for students in third level education, that they would know the Lord Jesus as their personal Saviour and grow as his disciples.
- Ballina, Ballymote and Killala, Monaghan Presbytery | Please pray that God would sustain, encourage and bless the congregations of Ballina, Ballymote and Killala during this period of vacancy. Give thanks for those who come to take services each week, pray for a sense of God’s presence within the services.
Friday 4 November
- Care staff | Pray for care staff within our residential & nursing facilities – particularly those caring for residents at end of life. This specialist care can often be both physically & emotionally demanding; however, it can also be rewarding and humbling. Pray that staff will be able to share the Lord’s strength and encouragement with residents and their families.
- Asylum Seekers | Pray for those who have arrived in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland seeking asylum and who find themselves in hotel accommodation or Direction Provision centres. Pray that they would be able to access the services they need – health, education etc. – and that they would be able to make positive connections with one another and people in the community, including local congregations.
Saturday 5 November
- General Council | Pray for members of Judicial Commission as they meet on Tuesday 8 November to discuss the new draft code. Pray also for the small groups in each Presbytery who are having similar meetings during the week.
- Training in Ministry | The pre-retirement conference for ministers and spouses is planned for Tuesday-Thursday of next week. Retirement for ministers involves leaving their home, their church family, and coming to terms with a completely different pattern of life. Through the conference, the Church seeks to help them prepare for this. Pray that the Lord would bless every aspect of it and all who attend.
