  • Moderator | The apostle John describes himself as “the disciple whom Jesus loved”. Take time this week to reflect on that truth and thank God for his great love for us.
  • Resting in God in worship | ‘The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.’ Psalm 23:1-3. Thank God for how he leads us into rest that renews our souls and ask that you may find refreshment for daily living as you worship today.

Monday 31 July

  • Edwin and Anne Kibathi (global mission workers, England) | Pray for Edwin and Anne, for the work they do visiting congregations, encouraging, mentoring and raising leaders. Give thanks for God’s faithfulness to the Kibathis in their work.
  • Hungarian Reformed Church in Hungary, Romania and Ukraine (HRC) | Pray that Sándor Zán-Fábián, Bishop of the Transcarpathia Reformed Church (Ukraine), would know God’s sustaining grace and wisdom in his leadership role amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Tuesday 1 August

  • Altnagelvin chaplains | Pray for Rev Peter Fleming and Rev Dr Robert Kane who have recently taken up chaplaincy positions in the North West Cancer Centre and in mental health at Altnagelvin Area Hospital. Pray that Peter and Robert will quickly settle in and find blessing as they minister to patients, families and staff in the delivery of holistic care.
  • Church Planting | Give thanks that the General Assembly approved the PCI Church Planting Strategy at its recent meeting in June. Pray for all those in PCI involved in church planting throughout Ireland, that they would know the Lord’s leading and guiding as they serve him.

Wednesday 2 August

  • Csaba and Ilona Veres (global mission workers, Romania) | Pray for summer camps and outreaches as they take place, for the leaders and volunteers, that they would work and grow together in unity.
  • Presbyterian Church in East Africa (PCEA), Kenya | Pray for Rev John Gatu, Director of the PCEA Theological Education by Extension Programme, especially as preparations are made to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Programme.

Thursday 3 August

  • Ben Day, community outreach worker, Kilbride | Pray for Summer Youth week at Kilbride Presbyterian Church. Pray for Ben and the other leaders as they prepare, lead and talk to the youth. Pray that the young people would catch a glimpse of God through the week.
  • Clones, Stonebridge, Ballyhobridge & Newbliss | Pray for the congregations as they meet together for worship and fellowship; that they would be built up in the love and knowledge of the Lord Jesus and equipped to serve him where he has placed them.

Friday 4 August

  • Carlisle House | Carlisle House is a residential substance misuse treatment centre. Pray for the staff, that they may have the strength to face daily challenges. Give thanks for the professional skills they bring to this work. Pray for the new intake of service users, that they will be open to all aspects of the treatment & workshops offered & leave free from addiction.
  • Loneliness | Pray for those of any age who feel isolated and lonely, especially during the summer months when normal activities are paused. Pray for opportunities to look out for neighbours and friends, and to share with them the love and hope of Jesus.

Saturday 5 August

  • General Council | Pray for staff in the Conferencing Department of Assembly Buildings as they oversee preparations for the forthcoming busy autumn months. Give thanks for the warm Christian ethos experienced by many using the building for conferences and for the staff who daily interact with guests to Assembly Buildings. 
  • Training in Ministry | Some ministers from other churches transfer into PCI. Give thanks for Mariann Gilicze (Hungary) and Mark Haugh (originally from N Ireland) who have recently completed their transfer pathway, and pray for Elsye McCroskery (Indonesia) and Stephen Moore (N Ireland) who continue on this process.
