Sunday 30 April

  • Moderator | “They cast their crowns before the throne, saying, ‘Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory, honour and power…’.” Revelation 4:10. Pray that in worship and daily life, we may find joy in such a liberating act of love and praise.
  • Answering God’s invitation to worship | Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation’. Psalm 95:1. Ask God to help us respond to his invitation to find joy in him as we express our praise in song today.

Monday 1 May

  • Edwin and Anne Kibathi (global mission workers, England) | Pray for the Kibathis as they lead the work of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa’s UK outreach in East London, Luton, Reading, and Birmingham.
  • Nepal, United Mission to Nepal | Pray for Helen Johnston as she visits Bajhang District this week, attends the UMN Board meeting and General Assembly, 8-12 May, and for Dr David Rodgers, as he chairs these meetings.

Tuesday 2 May

  • Roberta Irvine, deaconess at Elmwood, Lisburn | Pray that the spring season will count with direction, intention and bonds of friendship in the community that glorify Jesus. Please pray for the teams preparing for outreach in the summer that they may hear and act on God’s instructions with clarity and faith.
  • Dundalk | Pray that God would continue to build his church in Dundalk and enable the congregation to serve him. Pray also for the Christianity Explored course and the summer holiday children’s Bible club.

Wednesday 3 May

  • Csaba and Ilona Veres (global mission workers, Romania) | Give thanks for the Easter Bible clubs and for seeds of the gospel sown. Pray that God’s Word would take root deeply in the hearts and lives of the children.
  • Malawi, Scripture Union | Pray for guidance and encouragement for Amon Chanika, National Director, and give thanks for SU Malawi’s National Executive which held its first meeting of the year on 29 April.

Thursday 4 May

  • Philip Whelton, Irish mission worker in Arklow | Give thanks for the many opportunities to share the gospel through various activities during the week. Pray for the children who have registered for the holiday Bible club in August and for all the leaders who volunteer for this important week for the church and community.
  • Enniscorthy and Wexford | Give thanks for the witness of these two congregations over the years and pray for the remaining members in this time of vacancy as they deal with change. Pray that God would direct the next steps.

Friday 5 May

  • Topley Court | Part of the Willow Brook project, the Topley Court bungalows are dedicated to the care of individuals with a physical disability. Give thanks for the tenants & pray for the staff as they work to support tenants. Pray also that we might be aware of the additional needs of those with physical disabilities and facilitate them in membership and leadership. Give thanks for an increasing level of awareness of disability within our denomination.
  • Press & Media | Give thanks for the freedom of the press in the UK and Ireland. Pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who have made journalism their career, that they would be salt and light in their places of work and amongst the many people they meet throughout the course of their work.

Saturday 6 May

  • General Council | Pray for His majesty King Charles III as he is crowned in Westminster Abbey. Pray that the service of worship and the vows taken might enable all concerned and all who watch and listen to focus, not just on the coronation, but on the supremacy of the King of Kings, the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Training in Ministry | An event is being held on Wednesday 10 May, led by the Pastoral Care for Ministers and their Families Panel. The Moderator is the keynote speaker, & the aim is to support presbyteries in their work of caring for ministers and their families. Pray for the Moderator as he speaks, and for all who attend on behalf of their presbytery.
