- Moderator | Please pray for the newly installed Moderator, Rt Rev Dr John Kirkpatrick, as he embarks on a series of engagements – the Commemoration of the Somme at Belfast City Hall on Friday and the National Day of Commemoration – to be held in Dublin at the weekend.
- Resting in God in worship | Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Psalm 62:1. Give thanks for God’s salvation in Christ and ask for a fresh appreciation and assurance of it as you worship today.
Monday 4 July
- World Food Crisis | Pray for people across the world dependent on food aid and for the aid agencies helping them. There are increasing concerns of a global hunger catastrophe unfolding fuelled by the facts that grain is trapped in Ukraine, the protectionist policies of other significant grain producers, and a poor harvest in East Africa.
- Myanmar | Pray for peace in Myanmar and the safety of Presbyterian Church of Myanmar staff and members. Pray too for the Church as they seek to reach out and share God’s love in the midst of turmoil.
Tuesday 5 July
- West Belfast | Give thanks for plans for a new Special Ministry in West Belfast and for the appointment of Rev David Moore, minister to the post. Pray for him as he prepares to take up the role from September.
- Carrigart & Dunfanaghy | Pray for the new exciting opportunity for mission in Carrigart using the Bewglas Centre. Pray for the minister of God’s choosing to come forward to lead this work and to minister to Carrigart and Dunfunaghy congregations.
Wednesday 6 July
- Edwin and Anne Kibathi (global mission workers, UK) | Pray for Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) UK Outreach fellowships to be strengthened. Pray too that ministries amongst children, young people, men and women will overflow into effective mission in the wider community.
- India | Pray for Rt Rev Silvanas Christian, Bishop of Gujarat, all ministers, deacons, evangelists, missionaries, laities and Diocesan office staff. Pray for Diocesan Mission Projects including – Prayer Tower, Technical College, St Stephen Schools and Mission Fields. Pray too for ministry among children and young people.
Thursday 7 July
- Heather McCracken (deaconess, Belfast Trust Hospitals) | Pray for wisdom and guidance for Heather as she serves in the Royal Group of Hospitals and Musgrave Park Hospital providing pastoral care to patients, relatives and staff. Pray too for continued strength and energy for Heather as hospitals continue to be very busy.
- Craigavon | Pray for the members of session, committee and the church family as they focus on leadership development, outreach into the community and development of the congregation’s facilities over the next season, in response to the recent tenure review.
Friday 8 July
- Social Witness | Pray for Elaine Glass, the new office supervisor and PA to the director. Pray for guidance as Elaine settles into her role. Give thanks for this appointment and continue to pray for the recruitment of care staff across all the Council for Social Witness services.
- Fostering and adoption | Give thanks for those who open their homes to children and young people who can no longer be cared for by their own families. Pray that more people would come forward to offer help and support in this way, and particularly for refugee children who arrive in Northern Ireland and Ireland unaccompanied.
Saturday 9 July
- General Council | The incoming session will involve a significant amount of work for various task groups under the General Council. Pray for the conveners as they prepare for meetings in the early autumn and some over the summer period.
- Training in Ministry | Pastoral care of ministers and their families. Pray for ministers as they take leave and benefit from the quieter church life of the summer. Pray for refreshment and renewed energy and vision from the Lord as they also prepare for the new church year, especially after such disruption to congregational ministry and mission over the past two-and-a-half years.
