Sunday 29 October

  • Moderator | Psalm 62:8 “Trust in Him at all times, O people, pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.” Let us lament the terrible situations that fill our news feeds. “Speak with the one whose opinion most matters, the only one who can do something about it.” David Powlison.
  • Worship: Respond to God | “My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.” Psalm 51:17. Give thanks that God accepts us as we come humbly before him and ask that experiencing his presence in worship today might better shape our hearts to live for him.

Monday 30 October

  • Edwin and Anne Kibathi, global mission workers, England | Pray for Edwin and Anne, give thanks for the work they do with PCEA in England. Pray that the Lord would shine through all that they do.
  • The Presbyterian Church of Myanmar (PCM) | Give thanks for strengthened partnership relationships following the PCM General Secretary’s recent visit to the UK, and pray for him as he seeks to envision and guide the church through very challenging times.

Tuesday 31 October

  • Hospital chaplains (part-time) | Please pray for all of PCI’s part-time healthcare chaplains; that they would show the Lord’s compassion and mercy through their conversations and actions with patients, families and staff. 
  • Taughmonagh | Pray for the congregation as they continue to engage with local groups of people who use the building for purposes other than worship. Pray that God’s spirit will move local people to attend Taughmonagh’s community carol service on Christmas Eve.

Wednesday 1 November

  • Csaba and Ilona Veres, global mission workers, Romania | Pray for Csaba and Ilona in their final period of ministry in the Diakonia in Romania, that they would finish well. Pray for ongoing partnership discussions and practical details relating to their new roles in mission and ministry. 
  • The Presbyterian Church of East Africa, Kenya (PCEA) | Pray for safe travels and enriching partnership engagement for Rev Brian and Jean Gibson as they attend the 40th Anniversary Celebrations of the PCEA Theological Education by Extension Programme in Mombasa, Kenya from 3rd – 23rd November.

Thursday 2 November

  • Michaela Tucillo, community outreach worker, Abbey, Monkstown | Give thanks to God for seeing people come to faith! Pray for divine appointments as Michaela goes door to door.
  • Strand | Please pray for the Remembrance Day service. The church will be packed by the local British legion, cadets and band.

Friday 3 November

  • Illness and bereavement| Pray for those in our families and friendship circles who have suffered sudden illness recently. Give thanks for the NHS and healthcare professionals, including paramedics and rapid response teams. Pray for those known to us who are bereaved and coping with grief. Pray as they mourn a loved one, that God will hold them close to him.
  • Council for Public Affairs | The Council for Public Affairs Republic of Ireland Panel meet later this month; pray for wisdom and guidance for Rev William Hayes and the Panel as they seek to make a positive contribution to the public square.

Saturday 4 November

  • General Council | Pray for the Human Resources Department in Assembly Buildings led by Sarah Leung. Pray for the staff of the department as they oversee the work of recruitment for our residential homes in particular.
  • Training in Ministry | The Conciliation Panel continues to be involved in cases across the Church. Pray for the people involved in these, and the conciliators, that there will be positive resolutions. Pray too for the training workshops the Panel offers – mostly to kirk sessions and committees – that these would bring renewed unity in the service of the Lord Jesus.
