Sunday 29 May

  • Moderator | As the Platinum Jubilee of the reign of The Queen is marked throughout the United Kingdom in coming days, we give thanks for her godly influence as Head of State. Similarly, we pray for the President of Ireland, and all those in elected office in both jurisdictions on this island.
  • Answering God’s invitation to worship: Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28. Ask God to help us come just as we are to him in worship and find his rest & peace in believing.

Monday 30 May

  • Gary and Mary Reid (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for Gary and Mary and their ongoing mission within Maasailand. Give thanks for the many practical ways through which they show God’s love to others. Pray that God’s Holy Spirit will work mightily in the lives of the Maasai people.
  • Afghanistan | Pray for the people of Afghanistan, especially those struggling to afford enough food and other basic necessities. Pray too for our partners Christian Aid Ireland and Tearfund helping those in need.

Tuesday 31 May

  • Jason Sime (community mission worker, Alexandra, North Belfast) | Pray that God will guide strategic thinking in Alexandra & that they will lead people to faith in Christ. Pray for a meaningful impact on the local community, and that the congregation’s new projects will be blessed by God and be successful in building his church.
  • Athy and Carlow (Co Kildare & Co Carlow) | Pray that after all the difficulties of the Covid-19 period, the congregations may have a fresh vision of Jesus Christ, so that they may be living witnesses in their local communities. Pray especially for the new youth projects and those involved.

Wednesday 1 June

  • St Petersburg Christian University (Russia) | Pray for graduates as they work to better equip people in God’s Pray for the financial challenges which students, staff and the university are facing.
  • Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) | Pray for the work and witness of PCEA. Pray especially for all their efforts to reach out with God’s love and care to those living in poverty. Pray too for peace and calm during the run up to the Kenyan general election this summer.

Thursday 2 June

  • Platinum Jubilee | Across the UK The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations begin today. Pray for the health and well-being of the UK’s longest serving Head of State. Give thanks for Queen Elizabeth’s Christian witness and her contribution to the peace process on our island home.
  • Sharon Heron (deaconess, International Meeting Point) | Pray for Sharon as she spends time with young women coming into our country who have been through traumatic experiences. Pray that God would intervene and bring healing to their lives. Pray too for Sharon as she shares the gospel with them.

Friday 3 June

  • Social Witness | We pray for those who are sick and feeling unwell, be it physically or mentally. We give thanks for our Lord, who is the hope of the hopeless, the help of the helpless and the comfort of the weak-hearted.
  • Platinum Jubilee | The Moderator is in London today for the National Service of Thanksgiving in St Paul’s Cathedral, marking the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. As we are called to pray for those in authority, pray for the Queen as she celebrates this landmark anniversary and for President Higgins, Ireland’s Head of State.

Saturday 4 June

  • General Council | Throughout the year, both at local and denominational level we work closely, along with other denominations, with the Methodist Church in Ireland. The annual conference of the Methodist Church will be meeting in Assembly Buildings. Pray for all members of the conference and especially, their General Secretary, Rev Dr Heather Morris. Ask that God would bless and guide their deliberations.
  • Ballina, Ballymote and Killala (Monaghan Presbytery) | Pray for these linked home mission congregations as they continue to meet to worship God. Pray that they will know God’s presence, blessing and leading during this time of vacancy.
