Sunday 29 January
- Moderator | Pray for the Moderator as he conducts worship in Buckna in Ballymena Presbytery this morning and in 1st Antrim in Templepatrick Presbytery this evening. Pray that both congregations may be encouraged in their mission and ministry by the Moderator’s visit.
- Worship: Duty and Joy | ‘Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.’ Psalm 95:1. As we worship today ask God to help us to do so as joyful duty, with hearts that want to declare him worthy of our praise.
Monday 30 January
- James and Heather Cochrane (global mission workers, Portugal) | Following on from the recent Bible Course class, pray for those engaging in further in-depth studies of the Scriptures to be blessed with spiritual growth.
- Kenya | Pray for Uel Marrs and all participating in the Presbyterian Church of East Africa’s International Mission Conference taking place from 1-4 February in Nairobi, Kenya, focusing on the theme, ‘Mutually Encouraged’.
Tuesday 31 January
- Rev Norman Harrison (healthcare chaplain) | Pray for the team in the Belfast Trust who have had a series of health-related absences, and for those who are facing serious health challenges. Pray for the release of fresh resources for the teams in Antrim and Causeway who are under severe pressure.
- Kilkenny | Kilkenny Presbyterian Church continues to grow as people from many nations, including Ukraine, join them to worship. Pray that these believers will become an active part of the life of the congregation and at a time of blessing, that the Lord will protect our fellowship.
Wednesday 1 February
- Volker and Jinhyeog Glissmann (global mission workers, Malawi) | Pray for Jinhyeog teaching music at Phoenix School, Volker engaging in grassroots theological training, and for good health and safety for the whole family.
- Indonesia | Pray for Rt Rev Dr Mery Kolimon, Moderator, and for her leadership team, that they would be sustained and guided as they serve the Evangelical Christian Church of Timor (GMIT).
Thursday 2 February
- Lesley and Mabel Brush (community outreach workers in Tartaraghan) | Give thanks for those who attended “Hope Explored” in January and for new families who are attending Sunday morning services. Pray for wisdom as they connect with people and share the joy of putting God first in their lives.
- Lisbellaw, Lisnaskea, Mayobridge and Newtownbutler | Praise the living God for the formation of the new pastoral support team, for the gifts and talents of the volunteers who serve, and for the Lord’s blessing as they try to reach out to people with the practical love of Christ.
Friday 3 February
- River House | Pray for River House providing residential accommodation for older people. Pray for Lisa Taggart, the newly appointed Deputy Manager, that she settles into her role quickly and gets to know both staff & residents. Give thanks for the residents and the sense of community, pray that God’s presence will radiate within the Home.
- Transferor Representatives’ Council | The Transferor Representatives’ Council which brings together the Church of Ireland, Methodist Church and Presbyterian Church meets next week. Pray for the TRC as it seeks to represent the Churches on matters relating to education, including elected representatives, Department for Education, Education Authority, and other statutory and sectoral bodies.
Saturday 4 February
- General Council | Pray for presbyteries across Ireland meeting this coming Tuesday, 7 February. Remember ministers and elders especially, as they conduct the business of Presbytery and as names are forwarded for the Moderator of the General Assembly 2023/24.
- Training in Ministry | Pray for Dr Jess Arthurs as he joins with the Union College staff as a ‘Visiting Scholar’ from Gordon Conwell University, and works alongside Prof David Leach. Pray especially for the two-day preaching conference led by Dr Arthurs on ‘Preaching with Variety’ and ‘Preaching as Reminding’.
