Sunday 28 November

  • Moderator | Pray for the Moderator as he opens and rededicates the refurbished sanctuary at Newmills Presbyterian Church on Saturday 4 December. Pray that the event will go well and that the congregation will have new opportunities to serve the wider community in that area.
  • Worship that encourages | ‘But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.’ Psalm 3:3. Ask that God would encourage and lift our heads as we experience his presence and renew our confidence in his power as we worship today.

Monday 29 November

  • Chris & Rachel Humphries (global mission workers, Portugal) | Pray for the leaders and members of Comunidade Pedras Vivas (church plant) in Senhora da Hora, Porto. Pray that they will be bold and courageous in reaching people for Christ.
  • Nepal | Give thanks for the decisions taken at the recent United Mission to Nepal’s Board and General Assembly meeting. Pray for Dhana Lama, the new executive director of UMN as she takes over the role.

Tuesday 30 November

  • Tom Dowling (Irish mission worker in Kilkenny) | Pray for Tom and for door-to-door visitation and contacts made, and for in-person and online Bible studies, that God will be in all the interactions; pray that people will come to faith in Jesus, and believers will be built up in their faith.
  • Taughmonagh (South Belfast) | Give thanks for fresh enthusiasm, some new members, and an awakened interest in the OT after engaging with the ‘Bible Course’. Pray for members as they continue to be salt and light.

Wednesday 1 December

  • Peter & Jayne Fleming (global mission workers, Nepal) | Pray for Peter and Jayne as they continue to work remotely from Northern Ireland and as they prepare to return to Nepal within the next month to six weeks.
  • Faculté Jean Calvin, France | Pray for the students at the College in Aix-en-Provence as they study for future ministry and mission. Pray too for the staff at the College as they teach and mentor the students.

Thursday 2 December

  • Kenny Hanna (rural chaplain) | Pray for Kenny who has begun serving as PCI’s first rural chaplain. Give thanks for a warm welcome at local churches, livestock markets, agri-businesses, farm support organisations, and amongst farmers and farming families. Pray for pastoral and gospel opportunities. Pray for God to open hearts.
  • Westbourne (East Belfast) | Pray for Rev Mervyn Gibson, the kirk session, leaders and members of Westbourne urban mission congregation as they continue to seek opportunities to share the gospel with their local community.

Friday 3 December

  • Social Witness | As Lindsay Conway commences retirement after 19 years with the Council for Social Witness, give thanks to God for his guidance and protection over those years, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Please continue to pray for the work of the Council and for his successor Dermot Parsons.
  • Council for Public Affairs | Rev Daniel Kane is the convener of the Council for Public Affairs which is due to meet on Thursday 2 December. Pray for Daniel and the work of the Council as it seeks to support PCI to engage with gracious gospel confidence in the public square.

Saturday 4 December

  • General Council | Pray for the ministers and kirk sessions of congregations throughout the island as they seek, over the next few weeks, to maintain measures and mitigations that will keep people safe during Advent and Christmas services and events.
  • Training in Ministry | This week Dr Stephen Moore is due to begin work as Lecturer in Old Testament at Union College. Stephen grew up in Hazelbank, Coleraine – pray for him and his family as they settle back into life in Northern Ireland, & pray that the Lord will use the gifts he has entrusted to Stephen as he teaches in the College.
