Sunday 27 August

  • Moderator | Pray for all those involved in going back to school – for the provision of all that is needed; for a good, safe, happy learning environment & for strong & healthy relationships between teachers, support staff, parents & children.
  • Worship throughout the year: Pray for those who make arrangements | Give thanks for those who make practical arrangements for worship – opening the buildings, providing technical support, collecting and counting the offering, arranging the flowers. Ask that they will know God’s blessing as they undertake this ‘behind the scenes’ ministry.

Monday 28 August

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy (global mission workers, Romania) | Pray for wisdom for Steve and Rosie, in developing the work with those who have arrived from Ukraine and that the people they interact with would know a sense of belonging.
  • Faculté Jean Calvin, France (FJC) | Pray for College Faculty as they continue to provide training for Christian leaders in France, French-speaking Europe, and some areas of North Africa.

Tuesday 29 August

  • Forces chaplains | In addition to serving chaplains, pray for the four Presbyterian ministers who serve as reserve chaplains as they combine this role with their pastoral duties. Pray also for the seven Presbyterian ministers who serve as cadet chaplains, who may encounter many young people with little or no Christian background.
  • Corboy and Mullingar | Pray for leaders of the different groups, that the Lord would direct them in their preparation for the incoming year’s programme.

Wednesday 30 August

  • Derek and Jane French (global mission workers, Spain) | Pray that God would raise up more workers, specifically for two young people to be involved in various student and church ministries.
  • The Evangelical Christian Church of Timor, Indonesia (GMIT) | Pray for the team engaged in the ongoing repair work on GMIT’s Radio Station, and that Radio Suara Kasih will very soon be broadcasting again, providing a range of Christian programmes across the island.

Thursday 31 August

  • John McCandless, community outreach worker, Mountpottinger and McQuiston | Pray for John as he seeks to reach those in the communities surrounding Mountpottinger and McQuiston congregations. Pray for the Lord’s blessing on the activities that John is involved in.
  • Donabate | Give thanks for the presence of the congregation in the town of Donabate. Pray for the Lord’s blessing as they worship and witness in their local community.

Friday 1 September

  • Specialist Services | Caroline Yeomans is the Regional Manager who oversees work in Carlisle House, where the Council for Social Witness (CSW) supports people engaged in therapeutic programmes around substance abuse, and Thompson House where CSW works with people engaged in the justice system. Pray for Caroline’s encouragement and well-being as she explores options for future support to others with acute social needs.
  • Public Affairs Officer | The closing date for applications for the role of Public Affairs Officer is Monday 11 September. Pray for those applying for the role, and that the right person would be appointed to aid the church as it engages in the public square.

Saturday 2 September

  • General Council | Pray for the work of the General Assembly Advisory Committee which meets this incoming week. Pray for the Clerk as he convenes the meeting and that wise decisions may be made in respect of the 2024 General Assembly.  
  • Training in Ministry | Prof Michael McClenahan took up the role of Union College Principal on 1st September, succeeding Prof Gordon Campbell. Give thanks for wisdom and energy, and ask the Lord to use Union to build his church and further his kingdom.
