Sunday 26 May

  • Moderator | Pray for Confidence in Christ, meditating on Paul’s words to Timothy of our confidence in Jesus & the gospel. “This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, but it has now been revealed through the appearing of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, who has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to life through the gospel.”
  • Assembly Worship | There are a number of changes to the format of the 2024 General Assembly taking place from 20-22 June, including when the new Moderator is installed. Please pray for the installation of Rev Richard Murray as Moderator on Friday 21 June. This is open to everyone to attend and begins at 4.30pm.

Monday 27 May

  • Naomi Leremore, global mission worker, Kenya | Give thanks for the increased interest in studying TEE courses online. Pray for this area of growth and for the TEE graduations taking place during the month of May.
  • The Evangelical Christian Church of Timor (GMIT), Indonesia  | Pray that church resources would be used effectively to tackle the challenges of education, in particular the development of GMIT’s 596 schools.

Tuesday 28 May

  • International Meeting Point | Pray for all those who are welcomed into the International Meeting Point in south and north Belfast. Give thanks for all those who facilitate the English classes, Bible study, drop-in and other activities and services provided.
  • Staff in the Mission Department | Pray for staff within the Mission Department as they carry out their various roles in serving the wider church, in particular, Neill Harrison (Mission Development Officer), Helen Johnston (Mission Support Officer – Member Care) and Donald Garvie (Mission Support Officer – Partnerships).

Wednesday 29 May

  • Naomi Keefe, global mission worker, Brazil | Continue to pray for the ‘Good News’ club activities, the ‘Coffee with God’ Bible study and for the introduction of new children to the idea of books and to the ‘Reading Room’. 
  • The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Zambia Synod (CCAP Zambia) | Pray for the recently launched PW project in partnership with CCAP Zambia Synod, seeking to build capacity of leaders in Women’s Guild Groups.

Thursday 30 May

  • Angela Hamilton, women & family worker, West Kirk, Belfast | Give thanks for the recent Bible studies with women from the congregation. Give thanks for the friendships formed as we have grown together in God’s Word. Pray for the other various ministries within the congregation & local community that provide opportunities to share the hope of Jesus.
  • Church Planting | Pray for Grace and Hope Community Church, a church plant in Carlisle Circus, Belfast. Pray that it will continue to put down deep roots into Christ and the community, in order that it may share the good news of hope in Jesus with grace and compassion.

Friday 31 May

  • Dementia |In PCI’s Older People Services care homes, a number of beds are registered specifically for people with dementia. Staff also receive ongoing training on best practices for working with people with dementia. Pray that people will not feel alone and isolated. Pray that dementia-friendly communities can be promoted and awareness raised.
  • Council for Public Affairs | Pray for Rev Daniel Kane in his role as the convener of the Council. Pray for him as he prepares the necessary paperwork and reports ahead of General Assembly. Thank God for his time and commitment to the Council and pray for those on the Council as the church seeks to have its voice clearly heard in the Public Square.

Saturday 1 June

  • General Council | Pray for the group of licentiate ministers who will shortly be finishing their licentiate training programme prior to eligibility for calls in the autumn. Pray that God might guide them as they begin to think about future ministry and pray also for vacant congregations as they start to make approaches to eligible licentiates.
  • Training in Ministry | Graduation at Union College takes place on Friday 7 June. Give thanks for the Lord’s blessing upon students and staff during the past academic year, and pray for third year ministry students as they begin their full-time congregational training.
