Sunday 25 June

  • Moderator | Thank God for his presence and sustaining help during the General Assembly. As Dr Samuel Mawhinney takes up office as Moderator this week, ask God that he might have many opportunities to speak of Jesus in the year ahead and for physical refreshment and spiritual vitality as he fulfils this vital role.
  • Worship in the family of God | How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! Psalm 133:1. Give thanks that the local church is one of the few remaining places in our society in which people of different ages, backgrounds and perspectives come together as one and ask that this oneness in Christ might find expression in your worship today.

Monday 26 June

  • Naomi Leremore (global mission worker, Kenya) | Pray for the TEE editorial team and their future plans for a Bible study guide book addressing the issue of cults and religious extremism in Kenya. Remember the current TEE writing project on Christian music and thank God for the addition of Peter Ng’ang’a to the team.
  • Pakistan | Pray for leaders and members of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan, especially for unity as they live out their faith in Christ. Pray for strength and protection for Christians suffering persecution in Pakistan at this time.

Tuesday 27 June

  • Hazel Reid, deaconess in First Broughshane with additional duties in Causeway Hospital | Pray for Hazel in all her encounters with people in First Broughshane, Causeway Hospital and the Hospice. Pray that all who are suffering will know God and his strength and the eternal hope we can have through the Lord Jesus.
  • Sligo | Give thanks for the holiday Bible club that took place from 19-23 June and for all those involved who led and coordinated the activities. Give thanks for the children that attended from the church and local community and pray that they would come to know Jesus for themselves.

Wednesday 28 June

  • Derek and Jane French (global mission workers, Spain) | Pray for the publishing of two kids’ books dealing with everyday emotions, that they would encourage and guide children in their walk with God. Pray that the one-to-one Bible studies would help to equip God’s people for service and the sharing of the gospel.
  • Church of North India (CNI) | Pray for Mr Sumit Gupta, who was installed recently as General Secretary of the Church of North India Synod, that he and his family would know God’s guidance, protection and encouragement as he undertakes this challenging role based at Synod HQ, New Delhi.

Thursday 29 June

  • Mark Annett, community outreach worker, First Rathfriland | Pray for Mark as he seeks to connect with those in the community in Rathfriland and foster relationships. Pray for the summer period which often gives different opportunities for gospel outreach than the rest of the year.
  • St Columba’s, Lisburn | Pray for St Columba’s in their work with the children & young people in the Old Warren area of Lisburn. Pray for the week commencing 17 July & participation of a youth team from USA, through Salt Factory Sports.

Friday 30 June

  • Dementia | In PCI’s Older People Services care homes, a number of beds are registered specifically for people with dementia. Staff also receive ongoing training on best practices for working with people with dementia. Pray that people will not feel alone & isolated. Pray that dementia-friendly communities can be promoted & awareness raised.
  • School holidays | Pray for those who find the school holiday period challenging due to complexities in home life, financial uncertainty, or missing the routine and structure that term time brings. Pray that families would be able to access appropriate support, & that we would have eyes to see those whom we can draw alongside at these times.

Saturday 1 July

  • General Council | Pray for those responsible for beginning the follow-up to the 2023 General Assembly. Pray especially for the staff in the General Secretary’s Department as the number of administrative tasks are carried out, including updating the PCI Directory for 2023 and the Minutes scheduled for publication in the autumn.
  • Training in Ministry | Applications to be accepted as students for the ministry have to be submitted by 15 September. Speak to anyone you know who may have gifting for ordained ministry and encourage them to consider whether God is calling them to this vocation. Pray for all thinking about applying, that they may know God’s guidance.
