Sunday 25 July

  • Moderator | Pray for healthcare workers and the healthcare systems which have been under significant pressure due to Covid-19.  Many staff are deeply fatigued and resources are scarce.
  • Fanning the flame of congregational life: Being open | Ask God to help congregations to be open to not everything about church life returning to the way it was before, so that we can learn from our experience of the pandemic and be reshaped as God desires.

Monday 26 July

  • Csaba & Ilona Veres (global mission workers, Romania) | Pray for the Mission’s summer school in the village of Méra for children who are behind with their studies. Pray for the children to be motivated and committed and that it will help them catch up with reading, writing and maths, and prepare them for the new school year.
  • Indonesia | Pray for the work and witness of the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor. Pray especially for the church’s continued efforts to help those still suffering from the damage caused by Cyclone Seroja in April.

Tuesday 27 July

  • Rosemary Spiers (deaconess in Greenwell Street, Newtownards) | Give thanks for seeing people ‘face to face’ at church, doorsteps and gardens. Pray for the Kirk Session, that the Lord would guide them in deciding what activities to restart. Pray that the Lord would transform lives from fear and despair, to hope in Christ.
  • Ballymagrane (Co Tyrone) | Pray for the congregation and its linked congregation, Aughnacloy, as they continue to seek to be Christ-centred and people-focused and as they resume some in-person activities.

Wednesday 28 July

  • Naomi Leremore (global mission worker, Kenya) | Pray for continued progress in the development of the various writing projects which Naomi and her colleagues are working on including: the Vacation Bible School peace lessons for children, the TEE mentorship guide book for teens, and The Chosen worksheets for youth.
  • Pakistan | Pray for the work and witness of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan. Pray for Christians in the country who are suffering persecution to remain steadfast in their faith. Pray too for the Covid-19 situation.

Thursday 29 July

  • Leslie & Mabel Brush (community outreach workers in Tartaraghan, Co Armagh) | Give thanks that the Women’s Bible Study has continued online. Pray for wisdom with regards to resuming the “Men @ 10.30” outreach regularly.
  • Ballyhobridge, Clones, Newbliss & Stonebridge (Monaghan Presbytery) | Give thanks for good attendances at the recent children’s services and summer joint services, and pray that God’s Word may be seen in action. Pray for leaders as they pray, plan and prepare over the summer months for the new church year ahead.

Friday 30 July

  • Social Witness | Pray that the programme of visits for family and friends will continue to develop over the summer months and begin a more normal regime of regular visiting. Give thanks for the new visiting arrangements, which have greatly lifted the moral of residents and family and friends over the past few weeks.
  • Legacy | Pray for those who have found recent Government announcements and news reports about legacy and dealing with the past painful and distressing. Pray that they would know the comfort of the God of all peace, and be able to rest in Him.

Saturday 31 July

  • General Council | Pray for churches as they adapt to the potential easing of restrictions (in NI at present) and work out what that will mean for the running of services, children’s and other activities. Pray that leaders will be given wisdom as they seek to take responsibility for the safety of all church members and visitors and as they encourage the return to church of those who have been absent for some time and who may be nervous about returning.
  • Council for Training in Ministry | Drew Gibson, Professor of Practical Theology in Union College, retires today after 15 years teaching in the College. Give thanks for Drew and the godly influence he has had on students over the past 15 years, and pray that the Lord would bless and use him as he retires from full-time work.
