Sunday 24 April
- Moderator | Pray for all those for whom the present economic hardships are a biting reality. Remember those whose situation means making impossible choices between heat and food, and those suffering from threat to their employment. Pray that God would intervene to meet their needs through the various agencies at work.
- Worship: After Easter | Ask that as we worship in the afterglow of Easter we would be inspired and equipped to walk in the light, life and liberty of the gospel.
Monday 25 April
- Diane Cusick (global mission worker, Zambia) | The CCAP Synod of Zambia is holding a spiritual retreat this week for all serving ministers, which Diane has been involved in organising. Pray that it would be a time of renewal for all. Pray too for Rev. Stephen McCracken (First Ballymoney) who is the main speaker.
- Refugees | Pray for refugees around the world, that they will find safety, security, a warm welcome and practical assistance in the countries they arrive in. Pray for governments, aid organisations and Christian churches as they seek ways to help refugees when they first arrive and in the following weeks and months.
Tuesday 26 April
- Forces chaplains | Pray for peace in Ukraine and for a new understanding between Russia and the West. Rev. Paul Swinn is retiring after 20 years’ service as a chaplain in the army. Give thanks for his years of service; pray for him as he continues to serve as a part-time chaplain.
- Forces chaplains | In May, the Moderator will be visiting chaplains in the three services. Pray that his visit will encourage PCI chaplains in their ministry.
Wednesday 27 April
- James & Heather Cochrane (global mission workers, Portugal) | Give thanks for couples of all ages in Comunidade Pedras Viva (CPV). Pray that Christ would be at the centre of their marriages. Pray for the children and young teenagers of CPV and for God’s direction as to how CPV can best help them.
- Malawi | Pray for the life and witness of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) in Blantyre, Livingstonia, and Nkhoma Synods, Malawi, especially for the key decisions taken by the Synod leadership teams.
Thursday 28 April
- Strand (East Belfast) | Pray for the ongoing work and witness of this urban mission congregation. Pray for guidance for Rev. Danny Rankin (minister), the kirk session and all involved in leadership in Strand.
- Taughmonagh (South Belfast) | Pray for Rev. Robert Love and the leadership team in Taughmonagh. Pray for the local community, that many people will come to know and love the Lord.
Friday 29 April
- Social Witness | Pray for the tenants in Topley Terrace, our supported housing for people with physical disabilities, especially those who suffer with continual pain and those who have debilitating diseases causing their physical ailments. Give thanks for families, carers and medical professionals who spend time with the tenants.
- NI Assembly election | As the date of the NI Assembly election draws near continue to pray for the safety and protection of candidates, their families, and all who are involved in their campaigns. Pray for the electoral officials and the Police Service who ensure an efficient and safe election, and pray for wisdom as people consider how to use their vote.
Saturday 30 April
- General Council | Throughout the year at both local and denominational level we work closely, along with other denominations, with the Church of Ireland. The General Synod of the Church of Ireland will be meeting in Assembly Buildings. Pray for all members of Synod and especially, Archbishop John McDowell. Ask that God would bless their deliberations.
- Training in Ministry | Union College Management Committee works through two panels – the Teaching & Learning Panel; and the Finance, Personnel & Administration Panel. The conveners are John Gillespie and Norman Bennett respectively. Pray for the Panels and their conveners as they meet on 4 May.
