Sunday 22 May

  • Moderator | Give thanks for the opening of a new hall at Kilmount congregation on Sunday afternoon. Pray that the refurbishment will enhance the ministry and mission of the church and will be to the benefit of both the congregation and the community.
  • Answering God’s invitation to worship: Come, all who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Isaiah 55:1. Ask God to help us freely find all we need in him as we worship today.

Monday 23 May

  • Chris & Rachel Humphries (global mission workers, Portugal) | Give thanks for the new members received into the Comunidade Pedras Viva (CPV) church plant in Senhora da Hora, Porto during Easter. Pray for a deepening and maturing of faith among the CPV church body and for spiritual growth.
  • Middle East | Pray for the work and witness of the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL). 90% of the Syrian population now live below the poverty line, while the average price of a food basket has recently increased by an estimated 236%. Remember NESSL as they try to help those in need.

Tuesday 24 May

  • Joanne Dunlop (deaconess in Craigavon Area & Antrim Area Hospitals) | Pray for God to guide Joanne as she provides pastoral care to patients, staff and family and that she will bring words of comfort, strength and hope in every conversation, so that people will come to know Christ or be strengthened in their Christian faith.
  • Arklow (Co Wicklow) | Give thanks for the ordination of new elders, for new families attending church and for increasing numbers attending Wednesday Kids Club, Friday Youth Club and Coffee Dock. Give thanks too for the opportunity to teach English to many Ukrainians. Pray for those going through difficult times.

Wednesday 25 May

  • Peter and Jayne Fleming (global mission workers, Nepal) | Pray for Peter and his colleagues in the integral development department of United Mission to Nepal and for Jayne in her work at Kathmandu International Study Centre.
  • Pakistan | Pray for the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan that it will be courageous and faithful in its witness, service and preaching of the gospel, particularly in speaking up for the marginalised and oppressed.

Thursday 26 May

  • Woodlands Juvenile Justice Centre | Give thanks for Rev Colin Megaw’s 35 years of service as chaplain & pray for Rev Lesley-Ann Wilson as she takes over the role. Pray for the young people, that they will find faith & hope in Jesus.
  • Aughentaine (Co Tyrone) | Give thanks for good attendance at recent services and for the young families and children who come every Sunday. Pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit in the congregation’s ministry.

Friday 27 May

  • Taking Care | Within PCI we have the privilege of caring for thousands of children in all of our organisations. We give thanks for the Taking Care office who seek to ensure best practice and standards of excellence within our congregations. Pray for Cathy Mullin as she deals with Access NI/Garda Vetting & enquiries. Give thanks for the dedication of Jacqui Montgomery-Devlin, Head of Safeguarding, as she advises & guides ministers & church leaders.
  • Legacy | As discussions continue about legislative proposals to deal with the past, pray for those who find these distressing and painful. Pray that they would find comfort and rest in Christ, particularly when decisions made compound grief and suffering.

Saturday 28 May

  • General Council | Take time to give thanks to the Lord for the faithful and devoted service of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, as the United Kingdom celebrates her Platinum Jubilee during this incoming week. Ask God to continue to bless Her Majesty at this time of celebration in the days ahead.
  • Training in Ministry | Ministry students begin summer placements this month, serving full-time in congregations until September. For some, this will be their first experience of full-time ministry. For others, it will involve ministry in an unfamiliar context. Pray that students will learn, be shaped in character, and that the Lord will bless their service.
