Sunday 22 January

  • Moderator | Please pray that the Moderator would have discernment to build the right relationships with the right people, speaking wisely into every encounter.
  • Worship: Directed and set free | ‘Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me.’ Psalm 119: 133. As we worship today ask God to direct our daily living and set us free from sins that overshadow our lives.

Monday 23 January

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy (global mission workers, Romania) | Pray for Steve and Rosie in their ongoing commitment to learn the Hungarian language and give thanks for their steady progress.
  • Nepal | Pray for the grieving families of the 72 people, including three members of Nadipur Church, who died in the recent plane crash in Pokhara. Pray also for improved passenger and airline safety in Nepal.

Tuesday 24 January

  • Paula Burrows (deaconess in Ballygrainey) | Give thanks to God for his goodness and faithfulness to the church family throughout their vacancy. Praise God that their new minister will be starting soon and that in this new season of ministry may Christ’s Kingdom be extended and glory be brought to our great God.
  • Irvinestown, Pettigo and Tempo | Give thanks to the Lord for his faithfulness and that he still stirs in people by his Spirit to draw them to himself. Pray for the Word to accomplish his purposes for the members of the congregation as they go through the gospel of Luke.

Wednesday 25 January

  • Stephen and Angelina Cowan (global mission workers, Kenya) | Give thanks for the youth camps that took place in December and pray for the young people, that gospel seeds planted would grow, resulting in wise lifestyle choices and much encouragement as they return to school.
  • Reformed Church in Transcarpathia (Ukraine) | Pray for the Reformed Church in Transcarpathia as it prepares to hold its General Assembly in Beregszasz (Berehove) on 28 January 2023 & as it inaugurates newly elected officers.

Thursday 26 January

  • David Boyd (Irish mission worker in Adelaide Road) | Give thanks for the good attendance at the International Cafe last term and for all who participated in the Christianity Explored course. Please pray for the coming term that they would have lots of students and that the students would really engage with the gospel message.
  • Kells, Co. Meath | Pray for the congregation, that they would know deep fellowship with each other and that the Lord’s presence would be evident among them. Pray that this would be a strong witness to the surrounding community.

Friday 27 January

  • Mental Health | Mental health cases have risen significantly throughout the pandemic & now due to financial strain of the cost of living crisis. Pray that there will be adequate funding for our Health Trusts to provide services in the community. Pray that God will be close to those suffering from depression and other mental health problems.
  • Education| Give thanks for those who voluntarily serve on school boards of governors and management across the island of Ireland. Pray for great wisdom and discernment for those who have particular responsibility to uphold Christian ethos in schools and for all governors as they seek to support principals and staff in making the best decisions for pupils.

Saturday 28 January

  • General Council | Pray for the staff in PCI’s IT Department who support not only the offices in Assembly Buildings but also Union College, all of the Social Care units and several other sites. Pray for wisdom as they seek both to facilitate the work of the Church, and also protect it from the sadly increasing number of online threats.
  • Training in Ministry | Licentiates, or assistant ministers, are placed in congregations to continue their training ‘on the job’. An important part of this is supervision by the minister of the congregation. Pray for these ministers, and the other elders in the congregations.
