Sunday 2 July

  • Moderator | The Moderator will be taking the morning service in Newcastle Presbyterian today and then visiting Lawnfield House. Pray for safe travels for the Moderator and Mrs Mawhinney and that the service and the visit would be a blessing and encouragement to all those involved.
  • Resting in God in worship | ‘Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him.’ Psalm 62:1. Give thanks for God’s salvation in Christ and ask for a fresh appreciation and assurance of it as you worship.

Monday 3 July

  • Naomi Keefe (global mission worker, Brazil) | Give thanks for the interest and appreciation of parents and children who go to the ‘Reading in the Park’ activities. Pray that God, by his Holy Spirit, would speak to each of the children and their parents.
  • Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) | Pray for Rev Dr Mwawi Chilongozi, Secretary General of the CCAP General Assembly, in her leadership role and as she develops the CCAP’s strategic plan.

Tuesday 4 July

  • Shirley McGonigle, assistant project leader, International Meeting Point (IMP), North Belfast | Praise God that he is at work through the IMP parent and toddler ministry which reaches out to local people and those from the asylum-seeking/refugee community. Pray that as individuals open up, the staff and volunteers would speak words of life and hope in Jesus’ name.
  • Strand, Belfast | Give thanks for the engagement that the congregation has with the surrounding community and pray that this will lead to people coming to know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour.

Wednesday 5 July

  • Gary and Mary Reid (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for good progress with building work on nursery classrooms in two local Masai communities, for the provision of rainwater catchment tanks and for the young children it is hoped will benefit.
  • Christian Presbyterian Church, Pedras Vivas (ICPPV) | Pray for Pastor Luciano, the elders and the leaders of congregational ministries as they seek to progress work during this time of vacancy.

Thursday 6 July

  • David Boyd, Irish mission worker, Adelaide Road, Dublin | Pray for the special events for students being held over the summer. Pray also that the congregation would be able to help retain and integrate the wide diversity of people they encounter into the life of their congregation.
  • Taughmonagh | Please pray for the congregation as they meet for worship each week; that they will know the Lord’s blessing and seek to go deeper in fellowship with the Lord.

Friday 7 July

  • Respite care | Respite care can often be a lifesaver for families with ill or disabled relatives. Remember families who receive respite care, pray that they will be refreshed as a result. Pray too for an increase in respite services, particularly for families of those with a profound learning disability.
  • International Relations | With many different crises happening across the world pray for global leaders, that they would make wise decisions and seek outcomes for the good of all people. Pray especially for those agencies and organisations which support displaced peoples in countries which often do not have many resources to meet this demand.

Saturday 8 July

  • General Council | Pray particularly for peaceful days throughout the incoming week as many of the traditional marches and gatherings take place throughout Northern Ireland. Pray for wisdom for organisers and for those who speak, that these might be positive family days for all who attend.
  • Training in Ministry | The Union College building is historic and significant, however, any big, old building needs maintenance and management. Pray for Alan McCormick, the Head of Operations at Union; the Custodian, John Piper; and the Finance Personnel and Administration Panel, and its convener Norman Bennett, as they oversee the maintenance and management of the property.
