Sunday 19 November

  • Moderator | Pray for the Moderator’s ongoing work as a member of the Church Leaders Group (Ireland). Pray especially as the Churches together speak into various situations, that their influence might not only be for the common good but also for the furtherance of biblical values in our society.
  • Worship that empowers | “You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.” Psalm 59:17. Ask that as we worship today God would empower us with his strength for current challenges we face.

Monday 20 November

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy, global mission workers, Romania | Give thanks for God’s blessings, guiding and faithfulness to the CCF community of faith over the past three years. Pray for Steve and Rosie to be guided and encouraged as they consider the future and seek God’s direction.
  • Faculté Jean Calvin (FJC), France | Pray for the work of the Faculté Jean Calvin in Aix-en-Provence, especially that the theological training delivered will effectively prepare students for ministry and mission in the French-speaking world.

Tuesday 21 November

  • Roberta Irvine, deaconess, Elmwood Lisburn | CS Lewis described the Christian life in The Last Battle as the call of “further up and further in”. Pray for Roberta as she serves beyond her first year in Elmwood, for deeper relationships in her walk of faith, in the church and community, that keeps pace with this call of God’s spirit.  
  • Athy and Carlow | Pray for Rev Stephen Rea and the congregations as they gather to praise and worship each Sunday, that they would know the Lord’s blessing as they join together.

Wednesday 22 November

  • Stephen and Angelina Cowan, global mission workers, Kenya | Pray for Stephen and Angelina along with the Moderator, Dr Sam Mawhinney and his wife, Karen, especially as they drive up to Tuum today. Pray that the Cowans would know much encouragement from the Moderator’s visit to Kenya.
  • The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP), Zambia Synod | Pray for Pauline Kennedy, Women’s Ministry and PW Development Officer, as she visits Zambia from 19-29 November, especially as she meets with the leadership of CCAP Zambia Synod and visits church projects.

Thursday 23 November

  • Mark Annett, community outreach worker, First Rathfriland | Pray for Mark as he seeks to share the gospel to those in the congregation and in the surrounding community; pray that the Lord’s love would be shown in all that he does.
  • Ballina, Killala and Ballymote | Give thanks for the large attendance at the recent harvest service in Ballymote and for the many years of witness through the life of this congregation. Pray also for the congregations of Ballina and Killala as they continue to meet, that they would know the Lord’s guidance and wisdom.

Friday 24 November

  • National Adult Safeguarding Week | Beginning 20 November, this is a time for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues. Pray for Jacqui Montgomery Devlin and John Steven as they work to raise the profile of adult safeguarding within PCI by providing training and engaging with ministers and members of congregations. Pray that this week will enable more organisations and individuals to feel confident in recognising signs of abuse and neglect, and recording and reporting their safeguarding concerns.
  • Retail | Give thanks for those who work in retail and pray for their protection in the busy run up to Christmas. Pray that God would grant them grace, patience and stamina as they work long hours and serve customers who may be experiencing their own hassle and stress.

Saturday 25 November

  • General Council | Pray for the new Public Affairs Officer, Rebecca Stevenson, as she takes up her post this coming Monday. Pray for her as she settles into the role with its wide remit.
  • Training in Ministry | Recruitment of deaconesses is taking place at present, with interviews and placements. Pray for those involved in the selection process. Ask God to guide in every aspect, that his will would be done in the lives of applicants and in his Church.
