Sunday 19 February

  • Moderator | Pray for the Moderator in his ongoing interaction with people during his year in office. Every brief encounter in each of our lives has such potential, whether Moderator or not – Lord, lead us with expectation and open eyes.
  • Worship: Devoted as God’s people | ‘They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer’. Acts 2:42. Ask God that our church family in worship might be a place in which we express devotion to him and one another in his name.

Monday 20 February

  • Naomi Keefe (global mission worker, Brazil) | Pray for Naomi as she facilitates training in evangelism and teaching strategies, and for the leaders and volunteers participating in these sessions.
  • Myanmar | Pray for the Presbyterian Church in Myanmar, that our brothers and sisters would know protection, resilience and courage as they live and witness under an oppressive military regime.

Tuesday 21 February

  • Louise Davidson, deaconess in West Church, Bangor | Give thanks for the recent journaling event, giving women the opportunity to meditate on Scripture creatively. May it continue to be a blessing to them. Pray that Louise will continue to find rest in the Lord’s presence and fullness of joy.
  • Strand | Pray for the various times during the week when the café is open to the community; that these times would develop connections for people eager to know the love of Jesus.

Wednesday 22 February

  • Gary and Mary Reid (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for Gary and Mary as they engage in Bible teaching and for the worship leaders who lead and teach in the churches in Olkinyei and Siana.
  • Turkey and Syria | Pray for all engaged in the emergency response following the recent earthquake, for supplies to reach those in greatest need, and for the injured, traumatized and grieving to know God’s comfort and healing.

Thursday 23 February

  • South Belfast Friendship House | Pray for Rev William Harkness, Carol Reid & the various volunteers as they run the different kids programmes each week. Pray that the children would come to know Jesus as their Lord & Saviour.
  • Taughmonagh | Pray for Rev Robert Love and the congregation as they gather for worship each week, that they would encounter the Lord’s presence and would go deeper in their fellowship with him.

Friday 24 February

  • Disability Services Committee | Pray for the Disability Services Committee as they meet in the coming week. Guided by Rev Stephen Lowry (convener), pray they will make wise decisions regarding the oversight of the provision of care in Aaron House, Willow Brook, Topley Terrace, Lawnfield House and Kinghan Church. Remember the managers, staff and residents of the Services, as well as staff and members of Kinghan. Pray that they will be blessed and encouraged in their daily routines.
  • PCI’s Press Officer | Mark Smith is PCI’s Press Officer, supporting the work and mission of the church through media engagement and providing advice and support to colleagues, congregations and presbyteries. Pray for wisdom, grace and creativity; and that Jesus would be glorified through his work.

Saturday 25 February

  • General Council | Pray for the various committees, panels and task groups meeting during the incoming week as they draw up reports for council meetings during the month of March. Pray particularly for conveners as they begin to plan for reporting to the General Council in June.
  • Training in Ministry | Union College held an Open Evening on Thursday 23 February for anyone interested in its BA in Theology. Give thanks that the first cohort of students are making great progress, and pray that a good number will apply to start this September. Details are on the Union website: union.ac.uk
