Sunday 18 February

  • Moderator | Jesus said, “Come unto me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.” Pray that we will all accept Jesus’ invitation to come to him for the first time or the 100th and find rest from self in his righteousness. Remember teachers, school children and parents as they have a half-term break.
  • Worship: Devoted as God’s people | “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” Acts 2:42. Ask God that our church family in worship might be a place in which we express devotion to him and one another in his name.

Monday 19 February

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy, global mission workers, Romania | Give thanks for opportunities for ministry in recent months and those that lie before Steve and Rosie. Pray for the small OSCER student group in Cluj-Napoca, that students will catch a vision for gospel ministry among their peers in the many universities in the city.
  • United Mission to Nepal (UMN) | Give thanks for UMN staff who serve at their Headquarters at Thapathli. Pray for God’s hand to be upon the Supreme Court case due to be heard on Tuesday 20 February as its outcome will have implications for the future of the Thapathali property.

Tuesday 20 February

  • Sonya Anderson, deaconess, Shore Street Donaghadee | Pray for the preparations of the Easter holiday Bible club, for leaders to have the opportunity to use their gifts and that young people will be keen to get involved. Pray for those in the congregation who need pastoral care due to illness or caring responsibilities, that they will be encouraged in their journey. 
  • St Columba’s | Pray for St Columba’s, Lisburn, as they minister to many who are outside of the Sunday morning congregation. Pray that their ministry to those going through bereavement, at social events and children’s work may lead to faith in Jesus and a commitment in a fellowship.

Wednesday 21 February

  • Stephen and Angelina Cowan, global mission workers, Kenya | Pray that many of the ‘wazee’ (elders) will take up the oft given invitation to attend the monthly seminar where issues can be discussed and progress agreed within the framework of the wisdom of God’s Word. Pray for Stephen and Angelina to know safety and protection when on the road.  
  • Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, Zambia Synod (CCAP Zambia) | Pray for CCAP Zambia Synod ministers and leaders as they serve their congregations and communities, especially as they support those affected by the current Cholera epidemic and work for its containment.

Thursday 22 February

  • Maynooth | Pray for the ongoing service and witness of the church – especially for the elders and leaders in what is a very busy season. Pray for the new building project – for the project team, builders and the final push in fundraising. Pray for meetings that will be taking place through February and March, to pray and ask for God’s leading as the church move into this exciting new phase of the congregation’s life.
  • Jack McQuillan (community outreach worker) Christchurch, Dundonald & Tullycarnet | Pray that Jack, and the congregations he is serving, will be diligent in prayer, learn to listen to God & be thankful for everything he provides. Pray for boldness as the team serve in the community; that they will be able to share about Jesus with those in Tullycarnet & Ballybeen.

Friday 23 February

  • David Hooks, finance manager | Please remember David Hooks, finance manager for the Council for Social Witness in your prayers.  Give thanks for David’s financial wisdom and heart for the services that the Council provide. Pray that God will draw alongside David as he seeks to administer Council finances with God’s will at the centre of all he does.
  • PCI Press Officer | Mark Smith is PCI’s Press Officer, supporting the work and mission of the church through media engagement and providing advice and support to colleagues, congregations and presbyteries. Pray for wisdom, grace and creativity; and that Jesus would be glorified through his work.

Saturday 24 February

  • General Council | Pray for the ongoing month to month meetings of the General Assembly Linkage Commission, as it relates to presbyteries and vacant congregations. Pray especially for the Commission’s convener, Rev Ker Graham and the secretary, Mr Kenny Belshaw, along with the other associated committees and panels.
  • Training in Ministry | The Ministerial Studies and Development Committee oversees the training pathways of trainee ministers, and their congregational placements. Pray for the Committee, for its convener, Rev Eddie Chestnutt, and for Prof David Leach, the Professor of Ministry. Ask God to give wisdom in all the decisions about the training of students.
