Sunday 17 September

  • Moderator | Pray for Rev William Hayes and his team from Dublin and Munster Presbytery who will be sharing the gospel at the National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, Co Laois, from Tuesday 19 – Thursday 21 September. The Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Samuel Mawhinney, will be preaching in 1st Ahoghill Presbyterian Church. 
  • Knowing the blessings of God in worship | ‘May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.’ 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24. Ask that as you worship today you may know the blessing of the assurance that you are being made holy and are kept by God.

Monday 18 September

  • Naomi Leremore (global mission worker, Kenya) | Pray for the strategies being employed to raise awareness about the Theological Education by Extension (TEE) courses, that people would hear and want to join the programme. Give thanks to God for the ongoing growth and development of the TEE department.
  • Leaders in Training | Pray for Revs Brian Theu and Thomas Nyang’ama from Malawi who, with scholarship support from PCI, are currently in their final year of PhD studies (by distance) through Aberdeen University.

Tuesday 19 September

  • Louise Davidson, deaconess, West Church, Bangor | Pray for wisdom, grace & strength for Louise & the ministry team as they minister pastorally to members going through difficult times. Pray for the opening of West Kilcooley on 17 Sept after refurbishment, that it will be a great day of celebration, as we praise God for his goodness in the past and the future.
  • Greystones, Co Wicklow | Having recently returned to their church building, please continue to pray for a clear vision to best use their building and be a blessing to the ever-growing town. Pray also that they would strive to be faithful followers of Jesus learning how to walk with God.

Wednesday 20 September

  • Derek and Jane French (global mission workers, Spain) | Pray for the need for more workers, specifically for two young people to be involved in various student and church ministries. Pray for the Bilbao International Church (BIC) leadership as they plan and consider the identity and future development of the church.
  • Association for Theological Education (ATEN), Nepal | Give thanks for the work of ATEN, and pray especially for progress in the upgrading of their library and the purchase of e-books and equipment, remembering the students who will avail of these much-valued resources.

Thursday 21 September

  • Shirley McGonigle, assistant project leader, International Meeting Point (North Belfast) | Praise God that the building work was finished in time for reopening. Pray that God would be glorified through all that happens in the centre. Give thanks for the expanding team of volunteers. Pray that God will guide them as they serve. Pray also for Robert who is joining the team part-time.
  • Fermoy and Cahir | Pray for the congregations as they meet each week to worship. Pray that they would seek to share the love and good news of Jesus with those they encounter.

Friday 22 September

  • Social Witness | Pray for the Senior Management team in the Council for Social Witness, who are dedicated to this ministry. May they continue as a team to promote integrity in daily practices and may hearts remain full of compassion for those who reside and work in our services.
  • Financial Pressure | Give thanks for organisations like Christians Against Poverty and Trussell Trust who support those facing financial hardship. Pray that those struggling financially would be able to access and receive the support they need.

Saturday 23 September

  • General Council | Pray for the staff of the General Secretary’s Department in the busyness that comes with the start of a new church session. Pray for Susan Hamilton in her role as PA to the Clerk of the General Assembly and the Moderator. Pray for the smooth running of the office as the main interface with many office bearers within our congregations.
  • Training in Ministry | Union College is blessed to have the most extensive theological library in the country – an enormous benefit to students and researchers. Give thanks for the wise stewardship that has provided this resource, and pray for Joy Conkey & Margaret Ollivier, the Librarian & Assistant Librarian respectively, as they manage the library & support its users.
