Sunday 16 October
- Moderator | Pray for the Moderator, the Rt Rev Dr John Kirkpatrick and his wife, Joan, as they meet with leaders of the Reformed Church in Hungary and Transcarpathia. Also, as they witness first-hand the work of Hungarian Reformed Church Aid in the provision of emergency relief for Ukrainian refugees.
- Worship: Shout to God | Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness. Psalm 100:1-2. Ask that God would help you to worship him with exuberance today, giving heart, soul, mind and strength to your participation in praise, prayer and listening to the preaching of his Word.
Monday 17 October
- Steve and Rosie Kennedy (global mission workers, Romania) | Pray for Cluj Christian Fellowship, especially its weekly services focusing on a new series looking at the Apostles’ Creed. Remember Steve and the Kennedy family when Steve is on deputation in Ireland from 23 October to 6 November.
- Presbyterian Church of Myanmar | Pray for the church leadership, especially that they would know wisdom and resilience in the face of ongoing conflict within the country.
Tuesday 18 October
- Rev Rodney Cameron (chaplain, Hydebank Wood College and Women’s Prison) | Pray for Rodney who attends Hydebank Wood once a week to speak with the young people (under 22) and women in custody. Pray for good one to one as well as small group conversations about changing direction in life and following Jesus.
- Tullamore, Co Offaly | Pray for more volunteers to help with different aspects of the life of the church. Give thanks for the different activities which take place each week that build relationships with the local community.
Wednesday 19 October
- Stephen and Angelina Cowan (global mission workers, Kenya) | Give thanks for the encouraging level of participation in September’s adult seminar. Pray for Stephen and Angelina on deputation in Ireland from 2 October to 20 November.
- Theological Education by Extension Malawi | Pray for the new Executive Director, Rev Chimwemwe Mitengo, and the staff as they progress the work, especially the ongoing revision of literature.
Thursday 20 October
- Rachel Cubitt (deaconess, Whiteabbey) | Pray for wisdom and strength for Rachel and staff as they minister pastorally to members going through difficult times. Give thanks for the Girls Association with a good number of new girls and leaders. Pray for the building of good relationships and sharing the gospel with them.
- Westbourne, Belfast | Pray for the congregation as they seek to share the love of Jesus with the community in which they are placed. Pray that they will know God’s blessing as they gather to worship each week.
Friday 21 October
- Willow Brook | Willow Brook is a supported living scheme for adults with learning disabilities based in Coleraine. Pray for seven tenants as they travel to Blackpool for their first holiday since the start of the pandemic. Give thanks for this opportunity, and pray that all would stay safe and well throughout the trip.
- Council for Public Affairs | The Council for Public Affairs is due to meet on Tuesday 25 October. Pray for Rev Daniel Kane, the convener, and the work of the Council as it seeks to support PCI engage with gracious gospel confidence in the public square.
Saturday 22 October
- General Council | Pray for the members of the General Assembly’s General Council as they meet on Thursday 27 October to receive a number of reports. Pray particularly for wisdom regarding challenging decisions to be made on behalf of the General Assembly relating to finance for 2023.
- Training in Ministry | The Linkage Commission meets next Tuesday, 25 October. Pray for the Commission as it seeks to take an overview of the denomination in providing resources for ministry, and pray for Rev Ker Graham, its new convener.
