Sunday 16 June

  • Moderator | Pray for all the staff in Assembly Buildings as the Moderator conducts worship on Wednesday for the staff and for the General Assembly, Thursday 20-22 June. Pray for Rev Richard Murray and his wife Lynn as he takes up the office on Friday 21 June.
  • Worship in the family of God | ‘Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you’. 3 John 1:5. In this week of General Assembly, give thanks for our denominational family. Pray for a sense of God’s presence in PCI congregations meeting to worship God all over Ireland today.

Monday 17 June

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy (global mission workers, Romania) | Pray for Steve as he settles into ministry in Enniskillen Presbyterian Church and remember Rosie and the girls who are remaining in Romania for some weeks over the summer to conclude the school year, begin packing up and take time to say their farewells.
  • Hungarian Reformed Church in Hungary (HRC), Romania and Ukraine | Pray for Dr Károly Fekete, Bishop of the Transtibiscan District of the Reformed Church in Hungary, that he may know God’s strength, wisdom and encouragement in fulfilling his key leadership role in the life of the Church.

Tuesday 18 June

  • Alan Duddy, community outreach worker, Glendermott | Pray for Alan as he begins in this role serving the congregation and local community in Glendermott, that he would cultivate good relationships with those he meets.
  • Irvinestown, Pettigo and Tempo | Pray for the congregations as they meet together to worship on Sundays, that they would grow deeper in faith and fellowship.

Wednesday 19 June

  • Stephen and Angelina Cowan (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for wisdom and safety for all Samburu Awareness & Action drivers who have much responsibility placed upon them as they journey on roads that can be unpredictable, rough and dangerous, at times passing through insecure locations. 
  • General Assembly | Pray for the delegates from PCI’s overseas partner churches and mission agencies who will be travelling to Belfast for General Assembly in the coming week. Pray that they would enjoy trouble-free travel, that they and their belongings would arrive safely, and that they would be blessed through spending time here, even as they will surely be a blessing to us.

Thursday 20 June

  • General Assembly | Pray for wisdom as decisions are made regarding Mission in Ireland, and in particular, for plans regarding International Meeting Point, rural chaplaincy, and future church development in Ireland.
  • General Assembly | Please pray for the convener of the Council for Public Affairs and the Public Affairs Officer Bex Stevenson as they prepare for General Assembly.

Friday 21 June

  • General Assembly | Give thanks for the work of the Council for Social Witness and the Council and Committee conveners and members who give of their time, both practically and prayerfully. Remember the Council staff in Assembly Buildings as they support senior staff in their work. Give thanks for the Assembly Buildings office team and for Kenneth who so willingly volunteers every Wednesday.
  • Rev Owen Patterson, chaplain, Downe Hospital, Downpatrick | Pray for Owen as he serves in Downe Hospital, that he would be filled with the love and compassion of Jesus as he cares for patients and their families in difficult circumstances.

Saturday 22 June

  • General Council | Pray for the final session of the 2024 General Assembly. Remember especially the ministers, elders and other delegates as they meet around the Lord’s Table at the conclusion of the week’s business. Pray for Dr Richard Murray as he leads that session and preaches.
  • Training in Ministry | The Council will report to the Assembly on Friday 22 June, on its work during the past church year. Whilst there are many challenges, there is much to give thanks for. Pray that the Church will truly praise the Lord for his blessings in this area, and will respond by seeking to serve him with renewed vigour in the power of the Holy Spirit.
