Sunday 16 July

  • Moderator | ‘Come to me all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest.’ In this holiday season, let us give thanks for all who work hard and serve in our churches – pray that God will give them physical and emotional rest and spiritual renewal.
  • Resting in God in worship | ‘Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.’ Genesis 2:3. Thank God for the weekly cycle of ceasing from work to focus on worshipping him and ask that you may be refreshed by his presence today.

Monday 17 July

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy (global mission workers, Romania) | Pray for wisdom for Steve & Rosie as they develop their work with Ukrainian refugees and help them to gain a sense of belonging. Pray for the community of Cluj Christian Fellowship, that they would maintain their sense of fellowship and togetherness, even as people may travel or are away during the summer months.
  • Evangelical Reformed Church of Latvia (including the Baltic Reformed Theological Seminary) | Pray for Artis Celmins, Director, along with his colleagues at BRTS, as they prepare resources and deliver lectures in Latvian for the various seminary programmes.

Tuesday 18 July

  • Sonya Anderson, deaconess, Shore Street, Donaghadee | Please pray for leaders to have a good break from organisations over the summer and to come back refreshed. Pray for wisdom for Sonya and those she works with as they seek ways to engage with young families and those on the fringes of church life.
  • Athy and Carlow | Pray for both these congregations, that they would encounter Jesus as they join together in worship each Sunday and would go deeper in their fellowship with him.

Wednesday 19 July

  • Volker and JinHyeog Glissmann (global mission workers, Southern Africa) | Continue to pray for the victims of Cyclone Freddy and for the government as it seeks to restore services. Pray for safety and health for the whole Glissmann family, that the Lord would protect them as they serve him in Malawi.
  • Presbyterian Church in Brazil (IPB) | Pray for the leadership of the Presbyterian Church of Brazil who have responsibility for taking forward plans for the South Regional Gathering in the second week of September in Porto Alegre, especially as they prepare the programme that will bring together young people for worship and Bible teaching.

Thursday 20 July

  • Ben Cavan, community outreach worker, Ballycrochan | Pray for the holiday Bible club and its leaders, which will take place at the start of August. Pray that many children would hear about Jesus for the first time. Pray for the drop-in centre that Ben has started, that God would raise up people to help serve in the centre.
  • Arklow | Pray for Rev Michael Anderson and the congregation over the summer, that this would be a time of rest and refreshment. Pray for the recently elected committee.

Friday 21 July

  • Lawnfield House | Lawnfield is a residential care home providing both permanent and respite care for those with a physical disability/mild learning disability, sensory impairment or older people. Pray for staff and service-users, especially Karen Zeigelmeier, home manager, that they will know God’s presence in their daily routines.
  • Looked after children | Pray for children and young people who are in residential care, often as the result of adverse childhood experiences. Pray that they would be able to receive the right professional and personal support to help them flourish and thrive.

Saturday 22 July

  • General Council | Pray for the staff in Assembly Buildings Human Resources Department over the summer months as a number of recruitment exercises are undertaken in order to fill vacancies both in Assembly Buildings & in residential units under the Council for Social Witness. Pray that suitable people may apply & be appointed in all of these roles.
  • Council for Training in Ministry | Rev Andrew Faulkner, minister of Sloan Street, Lisburn, was appointed convener of the Council at the Assembly. Pray for Andrew as he takes on this responsibility, that the Lord would give energy, vision and Pray for Rev Eddie Chestnutt as he takes over from Andrew as convener of the Ministerial Studies and Development Committee.
