Sunday 15 October

  • Israel and the Palestinian Territories | Please pray for an immediate end to conflict, that God would raise up peacemakers, that dialogue would be re-established amongst leaders, cycles of hatred and revenge broken, the grieving comforted, the wounded healed and the future marked with dignity, mercy, justice, peace and love.
  • Worship: Shout to God | “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness.” Psalm 100:1-2. Ask that God would help you to worship him with exuberance today, giving heart, soul, mind and strength to your participation in praise, prayer and listening to the preaching of his Word.

Monday 16 October

  • James and Heather Cochrane, global mission workers, Portugal | Pray for the Pedras Vivas congregation in Porto, that God would guide them to their next pastor. Continue to remember James and Heather currently on deputation.
  • PAK Mission Society, Pakistan | Pray for PAK Mission Society’s ongoing emergency response, now moving into its rehabilitation phase, in support of persecuted Christian communities in the Jaranwala region of Pakistan, and for Christians in Pakistan in general.

Tuesday 17 October

  • Joanne Dunlop, deaconess, Craigavon Area Hospital & Antrim Area Hospital | Pray for those who are presently in hospital for a prolonged period of time and for those awaiting upcoming complicated procedures. Pray for the very real peace, encouragement and power of the Holy Spirit at work.
  • Maynooth | Pray that the congregation of Maynooth would know Jesus deeply in their lives and make him known widely in their community. Remember also the work progressing on their new building.

Wednesday 18 October

  • Volker and Jinhyeog Glissmann, global mission workers, Southern Africa | Give thanks for God’s guidance and preparation for the TEE meetings in Nairobi to do with publishing material. Pray that the outcomes of these meetings would glorify God. Continue to pray for the whole Glissmann family, for their health and protection.
  • Moderator | In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1. The Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Samuel Mawhinney, will be participating in & thanking God for the harvest in Bushmills. Let us pray for our farming communities, our rural chaplain, Rev Kenny Hanna, and his team, and all of us as we seek to care for the world God has created.

Thursday 19 October

  • Church Planting Taster Day | Pray for the Church Planting Taster Day happening on Saturday 21 October in Central Church. Pray for those who attend, that they would be encouraged and inspired by what they hear.
  • St Columba’s, Lisburn | Pray for the youth club starting back in November, pray for the leadership and volunteers. Give thanks for the evening praise service for youth meeting first Sunday in the month in partnership with another church in the Lisburn area (cross denominational).

Friday 20 October

  • Cost of Living | As families begin to get organised for Christmas, pray that those on low incomes will not get themselves into debt. Pray for those who are in food and fuel poverty, that they may find the support they need. Pray that we will continue to respond generously to foodbanks and appeals from charities. Give thanks for Christian organisations, such as Christians Against Poverty (CAP), that assist those who are struggling.
  • Policing | The advert for a new permanent chief constable was due to close on 16 October. Pray for wisdom for those involved in the recruitment, selection and appointment to this position.

Saturday 21 October

  • General Council | Pray for the General Council meeting this coming week on Thursday. Pray especially for the Very Rev Dr David Bruce at his first meeting as new Council convener and the Moderator, Rt Rev Dr Samuel Mawhinney, as he chairs his first meeting of the Council.
  • Training in Ministry | Pray for Principal Michael McClenahan and the faculty at Union College, as they teach, tutor and support students – a demanding task, covering ministry students, undergraduate theology students, and postgraduate teaching and research. There are also many administration responsibilities. Pray for energy, spiritual freshness and that the Lord would bless all that is done in his name.
