Sunday 15 May
- Moderator | As the planning for the General Assembly is well underway, pray for Rev Roy Mackay and Rev Mervyn Burnside who convene the groups responsible for the smooth running of the event. Pray too for decision making at the Assembly, that it would reflect the will and mind of Christ.
- Answering God’s invitation to worship: Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. Psalm 95:6. Ask God to help us to approach him in humility, wonder and awe as we worship today.
Monday 16 May
- Derek and Jane French (global mission workers, Spain) | Pray for the ongoing student work of Grupos Bíblicos Unidos and for more staff workers to fill in the gaps throughout Spain where there are none and also to ease the burden on the current staff workers who are covering large areas.
- Pakistan | Pray for the leaders and members of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan as they seek to make the Word of God known to all. Pray for Christians who face persecution / discrimination because of their faith.
Tuesday 17 May
- Eleanor Drysdale (deaconess in Wellington, Ballymena) | Pray as the congregation prepares for organisations to resume in September. Some need both leaders and helpers. Pray for wisdom and guidance and that people will step up to serve God.
- Aghada & Trinity Cork | Thank God for new faith in the congregations post-Covid. Ask for the Holy Spirit to bless them with a reformation of beliefs, repentance from sin and revival throughout Cork and Kerry.
Wednesday 18 May
- Naomi Keefe (global mission worker, Brazil) | Pray for the planning of evangelistic events to take place on St John the Baptist Day in June. Give thanks that Christian children from the Good News club are encouraging their mums to go to the ‘Coffee with God’ Bible Studies. Pray that the women will come to faith in Jesus Christ.
- Brazil | Pray for the work and witness of the Igreja Presbiteriana do Brazil (IPB) which has around 650,000 members in 5,000 congregations throughout Brazil.
Thursday 19 May
- Kenny Hanna (Rural Chaplain) | Give thanks for livestock markets, which provide a vital social and business hub for farmers and farming families. Sometimes the only people a farmer will see are those they meet there. May Kenny and other Christian farmers and families be salt and light for Jesus in these important meeting places.
- Alt (Co Donegal) | Pray for Rev Colin McKibben and the home mission congregation of Alt. Pray that members will have opportunities to share the gospel with family, friends and people from the local community.
Friday 20 May
- Disability Services | Pray for Caroline Yeomans, Head of Disability Services, as she returns to her position after a period of maternity leave. Give thanks for Caroline’s dedication to the work of Disability Services and for the services she oversees – Aaron House, Lawnfield House, Willow Brook/Topley Terrace and Peacehaven.
- Oireachtas | Give thanks for those who serve in Dáíl Éireann and Seanad Éireann. Pray that each one would carry out their responsibilities seeking to pursue a peaceful and just society, with courage and determination to work for those who are most vulnerable in society.
Saturday 21 May
- General Council | Pray for the ongoing preparations of the 2022 General Assembly. Remember especially the work of the General Secretary’s Department as they finalise many of the practical details. Remember also the staff of the IT Department who will be engaged in the preparations for Assembly.
- Linkage Commission | The Commission meets on Tuesday 24 May, with many items of business, including a number of congregations asking permission to call a minister. Pray for the commission and its convener, James Livingstone, as it seeks to be obedient to the Lord in this meeting, and in allocating ministry resources across the denomination.
