Sunday 15 January
- Moderator | The Moderator would value prayer for wisdom and direction in the planning of the next few months. Pray that he would make strategic use of each day, clearly doing what serves the purposes of our Lord.
- Worship: Part of something bigger | ‘Praise the Lord, all you nations; extol him, all you peoples’. Psalm 117:1 As we worship today ask God to increase our awareness that we participate in the worship of the worldwide people of God.
Monday 16 January
- St Petersburg Christian University, Russia | Give thanks for the new Master’s Degree in Systematic Theology which has been received positively by the students, and pray that the University would be well resourced despite a challenging economic climate.
- The Presbyterian Church of South Sudan (PCOSS) | Pray for fresh resolve and initiative to work for reconciliation in the PCOSS after the split that took place following its General Assembly in 2020.
Tuesday 17 January
- Rev Gary Aitcheson (prison chaplain in HMP Magilligan) | Pray for Gary as he seeks to share God’s love to the prisoners and staff and that he would find a good balance with his chaplaincy duties amidst his congregational ministry.
- Great Victoria Street, Belfast | Pray for the congregation in a time of great change, that they can see God’s plans coming to fruition. Pray for wisdom, patience and understanding. Give thanks for the improvements in the building and for the developing of new relationships with the people of Windsor.
Wednesday 18 January
- Diane Cusick (global mission worker, Zambia) | Pray that Diane will continue to make a good recovery from illness, knowing God’s strengthening and guidance in the year ahead.
- The United Bible Training Centre (UBTC), Pakistan | Pray for the Principal, Salma Andrew, as she oversees the running and development of UTBC, and for the student body as they worship, study and serve together.
Thursday 19 January
- Mark Annett (community outreach worker in 1st Rathfriland) | Pray for Mark as he seeks to communicate the good news of Jesus to those in the congregation and in the surrounding community, particularly during the time of vacancy.
- Howth and Malahide | Pray for the congregation as they meet for worship each Sunday, that they would grow in their knowledge of the Word of God and that it would transform their hearts and minds.
Friday 20 January
- Social Witness | Pray for Dermot Parsons, Director and Secretary to the Council for Social Witness, who has overall responsibility for the professional services and the coordination of the Council as a whole. Give thanks for his commitment to the provision of a high standard of social care on behalf of our church.
- Leadership| Pray for Permanent Secretaries and other senior leaders in the Northern Ireland Civil Service as they seek to make decisions against a difficult political backdrop. Pray also for senior officials in the Irish Civil Service as they adjust to the plans and priorities of a new Ministerial team.
Saturday 21 January
- General Council | Pray for a special service being held on Sunday afternoon, 22 January at St Anne’s Cathedral to mark 100 years of the Irish Council of Churches of which PCI is a founder member, and for the ICC and its work as it celebrates its centenary throughout the year.
- Training in Ministry | The Assignments Panel assigns ministry students to congregations for placements and assistantships – a vital aspect of students’ preparation for ministry, providing valuable opportunities to learn alongside a supervising minister. Pray for the Panel as it meets on 27 January, that the Lord would guide its decisions.
