Sunday 15 August

  • Moderator | Give thanks that the church maintains its focus on outreach to those in spiritual and material need, and for the maintenance of this healthy, holistic balance.
  • Fanning the flame of congregational life: Being together | Ask God to continue to bless congregations and their members in restoring in-person relationships as they find ways to be together again in worship, socially or in preparation for restarting activities in September.

Monday 16 August

  • Gary & Mary Reid (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for Gary, Mary and their youngest son who hope to return to Kenya later this month. Pray that they will be able to travel as planned, and for them as they settle back to life, work / school. Pray for the ongoing work of the Mission in Olkinyei amongst the Maasai people.
  • Spain | Pray for Grupos Bíblicos Unidos as they continue to train and encourage Christian students and recent graduates to share their faith with their peers on a daily basis.

Tuesday 17 August

  • First Bailieborough, Corraneary and Ervey | Give thanks that the congregations are able to meet for services and sing once more. Pray that God would continue to keep them safe as they worship together. Pray for wisdom as they navigate the changes to restrictions and try to resume activities safely.
  • Healthcare chaplains | Pray for PCI healthcare chaplains as they minister to staff, patients and their families whilst adhering to the guidelines put in place by the different Health Trusts.

Wednesday 18 August

  • St Petersburg Christian University, Russia | Pray for staff and students as they prepare for the start of the new semester. Pray too that the financial situation at the university will continue to improve.
  • Middle East | Pray for National Evangelical Synod of Syria & Lebanon as it continues to reach out in many practical ways to people, including to the internally-displaced and refugees, all more difficult due to Covid-19. Pray for the church leadership team, that God will grant them wisdom and guidance in all their decision-making.

Thursday 19 August

  • Michelle Stewart (community outreach worker in Cloughey) | Pray for Michelle as she makes and strengthens contacts with those in the community in Cloughey and as she serves God through all that she is a part of.
  • Craigavon, Co Armagh | Pray for the congregation of Craigavon as they await the outcome of their 7-year tenure review. Pray for wisdom for Armagh Presbytery, the Council for Mission in Ireland and the Linkage Commission as they seek God’s will for the future of the congregation.

Friday 20 August

  • Social Witness | Pray for Older Peoples Services as they continue to adjust to new working arrangements – involving regular testing and the ongoing restrictions on visits. Give thanks that many family members and friends have remained Care Partners and have started to visit under the new Pathway.
  • Social work and child protection| Pray for social workers and those involved in safeguarding services as they seek to protect children and vulnerable adults in difficult circumstances. Pray for discernment, wisdom in decision-making, adequate resourcing and renewed energy and strength when they feel burned out.

Saturday 21 August

  • General Council | Pray for the work of the General Secretary’s Department in Assembly Buildings, especially as the staff prepare for the General Assembly which meets in October this year.
  • Council for Training in Ministry | The current cohort of six Licentiates become eligible to be called as a minister on 1st September. Give thanks for the way the Lord has equipped them over their five years of training. Pray that he would guide them to the congregation in which he wishes them to serve, and that he would use them to build his Church.
