Sunday 14 May

  • Moderator | Accepting Saviour, thank you for planting in my heart a love for you that is real despite my own brokenness and betrayal. Forgive me when I judge others who fail or fall on the road of faith. Replace my easy superiority with a mind and mouth that demonstrates gospel acceptance.
  • Answering God’s invitation to worship | Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker’. Psalm 95:6. Ask God to help us to approach him in humility, wonder and awe as we worship today.

Monday 15 May

  • Naomi Keefe (global mission worker, Brazil) | Pray that Naomi would know God’s sustaining grace and protection, and that the evangelistic street presentations organised for June would reach many with the gospel.
  • Middle East | Pray for the Moderator, Dr John Kirkpatrick and Rev Uel Marrs, who are visiting with PCI’s partner church, the National Evangelical Synod of Syria & Lebanon, and other partners in Beirut, Lebanon, 14 – 20 May.

Tuesday 16 May

  • Rev Kenny Hanna, PCI rural chaplain | Give thanks for all those who were involved in hosting a PCI stand at the Balmoral show and in particular for those from Dromore Presbytery; that their actions and words will point the many people they engaged with to Jesus and his love for them.
  • Mission in Ireland workers | Give thanks for the Mission in Ireland retreat that is taking place from 15-16 May. Pray that those present will feel refreshed and equipped for the Lord’s service where he has placed them.

Wednesday 17 May

  • Gary and Mary Reid (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for believers at Ewang’an Worship Centre, especially that seeds of the gospel planted through their recent outreach in the local village would bear much fruit.
  • The Protestant Christian Church of Timor (GMIT), Indonesia | Pray for ongoing repair work on GMIT’s radio station, Radio Suara Kasih, that was damaged by Cyclone Seroja. Pray that it will soon be on the air again.

Thursday 18 May

  • Tori McClelland, community outreach worker in Movilla | Pray for Christ’s name to be glorified through the outreach work at Movilla and for the gospel to be heard and received in the hearts and minds of the children and young people in the Newtownards community through the various ministries.
  • Galway | Pray for the congregation as they look towards appointing new elders; that the Lord would lead and guide those he is already preparing for this role. Give thanks for all those who join together to worship each Sunday and pray that Jesus would be glorified through all that takes place.

Friday 19 May

  • Older people | Many older and vulnerable people are falling victim to a wide range of scams. They are being targeted and exploited by telephone, email & postal methods. Vulnerability to scams is often the result of loneliness and isolation. Pray that we will all become more aware of those who are lonely and isolated in our communities.
  • Oireachtas | A joint committee in the Oireachtas has been established to explore how the law in Ireland might change in relation to ‘Assisted Dying’. Pray that, rather than introducing new legislation, the TDs and Senators on the Committee would consider enhancing provision for palliative care, particularly in rural communities.

Saturday 20 May

  • General Council | Pray for the ongoing preparations for the 2023 General Assembly. Pray especially for the staff in the General Secretary’s Department as they carry forward the numerous necessary administrative arrangements.
  • Training in Ministry | The Accredited Preacher Scheme Service of Accreditation is due to take place tomorrow evening in First Antrim. Give thanks for those who have successfully completed the course, and pray that the Lord would use them as they lead worship and preach throughout the Church.
