Sunday 14 March

  • Moderator | PCI’s overseas mission workers will often face the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic in situations where healthcare systems are less developed. Pray for their health and wellbeing – and that of their families – as they continue to serve in difficult circumstances.
  • Worshipping with Easter in sight | Today as we worship with Easter in sight, ask God that we might be both encouraged by God’s love for us in Jesus and challenged by the cost of denying ourselves to follow him.

Monday 15 March

  • James & Heather Cochrane (global mission workers in Portugal) | Pray for James, Heather and all the members of Comunidade Pedra Vivas. Give thanks to God for online ministry opportunities – Sunday services, prayer meetings, team planning and micro groups. Pray it will soon be safe for them to meet in person again.
  • India | Pray for the work and witness of the Church of North India, in a country which has been badly affected by Covid-19. Pray for Christians to find and use opportunities to share their faith in their everyday lives.

Tuesday 16 March

  • Rosemary Spiers (Deaconess, Greenwell Street, Newtownards) | Rosemary thinks of creative ways to keep in contact with others, phone call, a card, a craft pack, a book in the post, or using other forms of media. Pray that God would use these means in bringing his love, hope and encouragement to others.
  • Douglas Presbyterian Church | Pray for Rev David Reid, the kirk session and members of Douglas home mission congregation in Omagh Presbytery.

Wednesday 17 March

  • Volker & JinHyeog Glissmann (global mission workers in Southern Africa) | Pray for Volker in his role as a programme developer for the Theological Education by Extension College in Johannesburg. Give thanks that participants on the ‘Knowing God’ training course normally held in Zomba, have been able to meet online.
  • Pakistan | Pray for the leaders and members of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan. Pray too for staff and students at Gujranwala Theological Seminary and United Bible Training Centre, Pakistan.

Thursday 18 March

  • Christine Wilson (community outreach worker, Lisnabreen, Bangor) | Pray for Lisnabreen church family as they seek to meet the many spiritual, physical, emotional and mental health needs of the local community. Pray for their new Doorstep Ministries, seeking to offer practical help & resources to those in greatest need.
  • Drogheda | Pray that online services & ministries will encourage people in their faith & be a means of witness for the gospel. Pray for plans to celebrate Easter through church services and a holiday Bible club online.

Friday 19 March

  • Social Witness | Pray for the work of Specialist Services as they endeavour to deliver services in these challenging times. Pray for those individuals in need of treatment for their addiction & those being released from prison. Give thanks for Thompson House, Carlisle House & Gray’s Court and for the dedicated staff teams.
  • Education | Give thanks for school leaders, teachers, assistants, support staff & governors & for all their work in connecting with pupils over the past year & in making the school environment safe. Pray the return to in-class -room learning would be smooth, with enough energy, creativity & stamina to keeping going for another term.

Saturday 20 March

  • General Council | Give thanks for the small team working in the Creative Production Department in Assembly Buildings led by James McCormick.  Continue to pray for them as they work both in the office and from home engaged in the production of numerous resources for congregations including the Presbyterian Herald.
  • Council for Training in Ministry | Joy Conkey has been appointed as Librarian in Union College, having previously been Deputy Librarian. Give thanks for Joy and for the friendly and efficient way in which she does her work. Pray for her and Margaret Ollivier, the Library Assistant, as they develop and adapt the library provision for students and staff, many of whom are studying and working online.
