Sunday 14 August

  • Moderator | Pray for the Moderator’s visit to Dundrod Presbyterian Church today. Pray for the congregation as they are currently in a vacancy.
  • Worship throughout the year: Pray for those who lead praise | Give thanks for those whom God has gifted to lead praise each week. Ask that he will help them to do so with beauty and joy.

Monday 15 August

  • Stephen & Angelina Cowan (global mission workers, Kenya) | Pray for the young people attending the August youth camps in Tuum, that many more would commit their lives to Christ and that those who already have will grow in their faith and their devotion to serving God and being led by him in all aspects of their lives.
  • Pakistan | Pray for the leaders and members of the Presbyterian Church of Pakistan as they seek to make the Word of God known to all. Pray for Christians who face persecution/discrimination because of their faith.

Tuesday 16 August

  • Michelle Stewart (community outreach worker, Trinity, Greyabbey) | Pray for Michelle as she continues to build relationships with people in the community. Pray that the church in Cloughey will continually be a witness and a shining light in the village.
  • Great Victoria Street, Belfast | The congregation is now sharing its building with Windsor congregation. Pray for the members as they excitedly see change in a big way. Pray for the church leaders exploring the new way ahead and finding God’s vision for this strategically placed church in the city of Belfast.

Wednesday 17 August

  • James & Heather Cochrane (global mission workers, Portugal) | Pray for James and Heather as they continue to lead the Comunidade Pedras Vivas church plant in Porto. Pray for the members of the church as they seek to elect their first elders in the coming months.
  • Brazil | Pray for the work and witness of the Igreja Presbiteriana do Brazil (IPB) which has around 650,000 members in 5,000 congregations throughout Brazil.

Thursday 18 August

  • Henry Coulter (International Meeting Point, South Belfast) | Give thanks for the privilege to be able to help asylum seekers and refugees settle into life in Belfast; English classes are full and the Bible studies are running well. Pray for wisdom, grace and strength for Henry & the staff. May many hear the good news and trust Jesus.
  • Greystones (Co Wicklow) | Pray for the minister – Rev Gary McDowell, the elders and members of Greystones congregation as they continue to love God, encourage one another and serve the Greystones’ community and beyond.

Friday 19 August

  • Social Witness | Thompson House is the Church’s supported housing scheme for offenders. Give thanks for the work and witness of Thompson House and the staff there. Pray that residents find and retain employment and make use of opportunities for further education. Pray for the Bible studies that take place and the residents who participate.
  • Education | Pray for young people who have received exam results and are making decisions about future studies at school or in further or higher education. Pray that the advice they receive would be helpful and wise, and that in the midst of uncertainty they might know the sure and steadfast hope of Christ our Saviour.

Saturday 20 August

  • General Council | Pray for those who work in the background, both in our congregations and in our wider church. Remember especially those who look after the increasingly important technological side of church life, both in congregations and in the Assembly Buildings IT Department.
  • Training in Ministry | Ministry students are preparing to start the new year of College studies. There are 4 new students this year. The first two weeks are intensive Hebrew and Greek classes. Pray that the Lord will prepare new and existing students for ministry through their college study and congregational placements.
