Sunday 13 November
Moderator | Pray for the Moderator as he joins with Assembly Building staff to say farewell to Very Rev Dr David Bruce as he approaches retirement from his role as Secretary for Council for Mission in Ireland (CMI). Pray that this might be a special & meaningful occasion for David at the end of his service for our General Assembly through CMI.
Worship that equips | Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. Psalm 144:1. Ask that in our worship today God would equip us for the rigours of the battle to follow him faithfully day by day.
Monday 14 November
Naomi Keefe (global mission worker, Brazil) | Give thanks for Naomi’s time on home assignment and for her safe return to Brazil. Pray for training sessions with the leadership of the congregation of Beberibe on ´Biblical Principles of Teaching´.
Pakistan | Pray for the more than eight million people displaced by the most severe flooding in Pakistan’s recent history, and for efforts to provide humanitarian assistance in the face of water borne diseases and malnutrition.
Tuesday 15 November
Eleanor Drysdale (deaconess in Wellington, Ballymena) |During December, the Women @ Wellington PW group will be involved in 3 areas of outreach, a Christmas Card outreach, Helping Hands Ministry and Re-story Ministry. Pray for the women as they deliver cards and food hampers to all who need to know God cares about them.
Bellasis, Cavan, Drumkeeran & Killeshandra, Co Cavan | Pray for the congregations as they each gather together to worship God, that they would be drawn into a closer relationship with him.
Wednesday 16 November
Peter and Jayne Fleming (global mission workers, Nepal) |Give thanks for Peter and Jayne’s safe return from Nepal. Pray for them as they engage in final home assignment and explore their next chapter in God’s service.
The Presbyterian Church of Brazil (IPB) | Pray for Rev Robert Brasileiro Silva, President and the Executive Board that they would provide wise and discerning leadership for the IPB.
Thursday 17 November
Shirley McGonigle, International Meeting Point, North Belfast |Praise God that he continues to bring people to IMP. Pray for those asylum seekers who have recently arrived and are struggling to adapt. Pray that they will feel welcomed and supported. Pray that we may speak hope into their personal circumstances.
Blackrock & Bray, Co Wicklow | Give thanks to God for all his goodness and faithfulness to the congregations. Pray for the elders of both congregations as they develop a vision and mission plan for the future.
Friday 18 November
National Safeguarding Adults Week | Taking place from 21-27 November, this is an opportunity for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues. Please pray for Jacqui Montgomery-Devlin, Head of Safeguarding, as she continues to raise the profile of Adult Safeguarding by providing training sessions across a number of presbyteries. Pray that the week will enable more organisations and individuals to feel confident in recognizing the signs of abuse and neglect, and recording and reporting their safeguarding concerns.
Policing & Crime |Give thanks for the work of An Garda Síochána and the PSNI in tackling criminality and protecting local communities, including many vulnerable people in society. Pray for breakthroughs that will bring those seeking to cause harm to justice, and for protection as they go about their work.
Saturday 19 November
General Council | Pray for the General Secretary’s Department as staff continue to support large numbers of committees, panels and task groups meeting over these weeks. Pray that this important administrative work might facilitate good decision making in these various bodies.
Training in Ministry | The Ministerial Studies and Development Committee oversees the training pathways of trainee ministers, and their congregational placements. Pray for the Committee, for its convener, Rev Andrew Faulkner, and for Prof David Leach, the Professor of Ministry. Ask God to give wisdom in all of the decisions about the training of students.
