Sunday 12 May

  • Moderator | Let us pray for our farming community, thanking God for the seedtime and pray for suitable weather to gather in the winter feed. Pray for Christ centred and encouraging conversations as the Moderator attends Balmoral Show on Wednesday and for Rev Kenny Hanna, as our rural chaplain, who will accompany him.
  • Answering God’s invitation to worship | Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.’ Psalm 95:6. Ask God to help us to approach him in humility, wonder and awe as we worship today.

Monday 13 May

  • Steve and Rosie Kennedy, global mission workers, Romania | Remember the Kennedy family as they make the transition back to life and service in Northern Ireland, for Steve as he prepares to be installed as minister of Enniskillen Presbyterian Church on 17 May, and for Rosie and the girls who will be completing the school year in Cluj.
  • Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) Livingstonia Synod, Malawi | Pray for the Synod’s emergency response to assist communities on the lakeshore districts of Nkhotakota and Karonga following recent flash floods, especially for those still in camps who are in great need of adequate food and shelter.

Tuesday 14 May

  • Heidi England, deaconess, Railway Street, Lisburn | Give thanks for the encouraging response to the teaching of God’s Word, both in church services and in discipleship groups. Pray that it will bear fruit in the lives of believers so that others will be drawn to Jesus.
  • Fermoy and Cahir | Pray for the Bible club week in July that is usually well attended by children, teens and parents in the town. Give thanks for the Exodus team that is helping to lead this and pray that lives will be impacted by God’s grace shared through his Word.

Wednesday 15 May

  • Volker and Jinhyeog Glissmann, global mission workers, South Africa | Give thanks for the doors of opportunity that have been opening for new projects in TEE, seeking to provide theological education for ‘everyone and everywhere’.
  • Church of North India (CNI), India | Pray that God would protect and sustain Christian communities throughout the country, especially as voting continues in the General Election and given the context where there is a push for India to be a Hindu-first nation.

Thursday 16 May

  • Leslie and Mabel Brush, community outreach workers, Tartaraghan | Give thanks for Leslie and Mabel and for the years of faithful service they have given. Pray that they will know God’s blessing as they finish their time as community outreach workers and prepare for whatever their next phase of life and service brings. 
  • Fahan | Pray for Rev Marty McNeely and his family as they settle into ministry in Donegal. Give thanks for the faithful members of Fahan congregation and pray for God’s leading as together they seek to begin a new work of outreach in nearby Buncrana town.

Friday 17 May

  • Sickness | Heavenly Father, we lift up those who are sick and feeling unwell, be it physically or mentally. Be with them and show them your compassion Lord, heal them. Pray for all Social Witness staff currently on sick leave; pray that they will take time to rest and recover, and return to work feeling refreshed and renewed in God’s love.
  • Fostering and adoption | Give thanks for those who open their homes to children and young people who can no longer be cared for by their own families. Pray that more people would come forward to offer help and support in this way, and particularly for refugee children who arrive in Northern Ireland and Ireland unaccompanied.

Saturday 18 May

  • General Council | Pray for the ministers, elders and other representatives who will be attending the 2024 General Assembly from Thursday 20 June to Saturday 22 June. As the Annual Reports and related documents are distributed, pray for wisdom and discernment as these are read and considered.
  • Training in Ministry | The annual conference for ministers who are five years’ post-ordination takes place next Tuesday -Thursday, in Assembly Buildings. Pray for the ministers who will gather, for encouragement, fellowship, and for the equipping and enabling of God, that they would be ever-more effective in what the Lord has called them to do.
