Sunday 12 June

  • Moderator | The Moderator had the honour of attending two services of Thanksgiving for the reign of Queen Elizabeth II – representing PCI at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday and preaching at St Anne’s Cathedral on Sunday. Give thanks for the Queen’s remarkable reign of 70 years and her faithful Christian witness.
  • Worship in the family of God | Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Hebrews 13:1. Give thanks for your congregational family and ask that God would bless your time together in worship today.

Monday 13 June

  • Steve & Rosie Kennedy (global mission workers, Romania) | Give thanks for a greater sense of community in Cluj Christian Fellowship being strengthened by the monthly rhythms of worship services, discipleship and fellowship gatherings. Pray for the preparations for summer outreach activities.
  • Scripture Union Malawi (SUM) | Pray for the ongoing work of Scripture Union in Malawi reaching out to children and teenagers with the message of God’s love. Give thanks for all in leadership in (SUM) as they serve.

Tuesday 14 June

  • Shirley McGonigle (International Meeting Point) | Pray that those who come through the doors will sense the warmth of God’s love and become curious about Jesus. Pray that the English classes will meet their language needs which is crucial in building confidence, making friendships, and navigating a new culture and community.
  • Bellasis, Cavan, Drumkeeran, Killeshandra (Monaghan Presbytery) | Pray for these linked congregations, worshipping and witnessing post-pandemic, and remember their minister, Rev Jean Mackarel.

Wednesday 15 June

  • Stephen & Angelina Cowan (global mission workers, Kenya) | Give thanks for all that has been achieved by the Samburu Awareness and Action Programme over the years and pray for the leadership team that they will be aware of God’s leading. Give thanks for local people who are willing to consider and implement new ideas.
  • United Mission to Nepal (UMN) | Pray for UMN as it serves the people of Nepal, particularly those living in poverty. Pray especially for UMN’s leadership team, including Dhana Lama, Executive Director.

Thursday 16 June

  • Graham Stockdale (prison chaplain – Maghaberry) | Give thanks to God that Maghaberry is returning to a normal routine after covid restrictions, enabling prisoners to attend services. Pray for the Alpha Course in Maghaberry which has been running since mid-May.
  • Bray (Co Wicklow) & Blackrock (Co Dublin) | Give thanks to God for his faithfulness over the last two years, and for the strong community that there is in both congregations. Pray for the elders of both congregations as they develop a vision and mission plan for the future.

Friday 17 June

  • Dementia | In NI the number of people diagnosed with dementia is increasing; currently there are approximately 20,000 people diagnosed. In our Older People Services care homes we have over 40 beds registered specifically for people with dementia. Pray that people will not feel alone and isolated, and that they will be able to get advice and support from both Health and Social Care services and voluntary services specialising in this area.
  • Education | As another school year comes to an end give thanks for those who care for and educate our children and young people in various roles across all educational settings. Pray that summer would provide a time of rest and refreshment for all.

Saturday 18 June

  • General Council | Pray for the meeting of the General Assembly which begins with Opening Night on Wednesday 22 June. Remember the outgoing Moderator, Dr David Bruce and his successor, the incoming Moderator, Dr John Kirkpatrick in your prayers.
  • Training in Ministry | David Leach, Professor of Ministry, has completed his first academic year in post. Give thanks for him and all that he has contributed in fulfilling this demanding role, and pray that he will have opportunity to reflect and be refreshed over the summer period.
