Sunday 11 July

  • Moderator | Pray for your own minister today.  Why not write them a short message of encouragement as they think and plan for the next number of months.
  • Fanning the flame of congregational life: Being realistic | Ask God to help congregations be realistic about setting the pace of resuming more normal patterns of church life, encouraging as many as possible to get on board while being careful not to run out of steam.

Monday 12 July

  • James & Heather Cochrane (global mission workers in Portugal) | Give thanks for the baptisms and new members received into the church last month. Pray for the new sermon series on the parables of Jesus, for those who have been taking part in ‘The Bible Course” and for all opportunities to share the gospel.
  • Malawi | Pray for the Covid-19 situation in Malawi and for work and witness of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian, especially for its hospitals and healthcare clinics during the pandemic.

Tuesday 13 July

  • Forces chaplains | Pray for PCI’s forces chaplains as they serve in the army, navy and RAF, some of whom are currently deployed overseas. Pray for them as they provide pastoral support and seek opportunities to share the gospel. Pray especially for Rev Simon Hamilton, as he commences his service as a naval chaplain.
  • Forces | Pray for all members of the armed forces for their safety, health and spiritual well-being. Pray too for families separated for long periods of time.

Wednesday 14 July

  • Edwin & Anne Kibathi (global mission workers to East Africans in the UK) | Pray for Edwin & Anne as they provide pastoral care and support to East-African ex-pats and restart holding services and meetings in-person.
  • Indonesia | Pray for the worsening Covid-19 situation in the country of Indonesia, for medical staff and resources such as oxygen. Pray for the leaders and members of our three partners churches at this time.

Thursday 15 July

  • International Meeting Point | Pray for those coming to the Bible studies (three in South Belfast & one in North Belfast). Pray for all to be challenged by the gospel and to respond as God speaks to them. Pray too for the growing number attending the socially-distanced English classes, as connections are made with more people.
  • International Meeting Point | Give thanks and pray for all the staff and volunteers. Pray for them as they serve over the summer and for wisdom as they prepare to resume more IMP ministries in September.

Friday 16 July

  • Social Witness | Pray for the Senior Team – Lindsay Conway (Council Secretary & Director), Denise Keegan (Head of Disability), Jacqui Montgomery-Devlin (Head of Safeguarding), Caroline Yeomans (Head of Disability), Laura Kelly (Head of Personnel) & David Hooks (Finance Manger) – as they manage the different aspects of work & witness of the Council. Give thanks for their expertise & dedication & for the strong team that they have become.
  • Legislatures | As the NI Assembly, Oireachtas and UK Parliament move into a period of recess give thanks for the staff who support elected representatives in their work as law-makers, and in their constituency offices. Pray that they would enjoy a period of rest and refreshment over the summer months.

Saturday 17 July

  • General Council | Pray for the work of the staff in the General Secretary’s department as they engage with the additional work of preparation for the October 2021 Assembly. Pray that the practicalities will fall into place to enable some very tight deadlines to be met.
  • Council for Training in Ministry | Pray for ministers from other churches serving as assistants with a view to becoming eligible for a call to a congregation: Mariann Gilicze (Hungary) in Gilnahirk; Laszlo Orban (Romania) in Joymount; Tagle Aguair (Cuba) in St Andrew’s Bangor, Trevor Kane in 1st Portadown & Mark Haugh in Vinecash, both originally from Northern Ireland.
